NOTICE OF RACE

St Catherine’s SC for races run in St Catherine’s Bay

1 RULES

1.1The event will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing 2009-2012.

1.2RYA Prescriptions will apply.

1.3Racing rule 35 will be changed. The change will be shown in full in the Sailing Instructions. The Sailing Instructions may also change other rules.

1.4The Class Rules of the International Laser Class Association will apply.

2ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY

2.1The event is open to any Jersey-born competitor or any competitor who will be continually resident in Jersey from beginning of June 2012 to end of June 2013 or will be in full time education or the armed services but normally is resident in Jersey.

2.2A completed entry form accompanied by the entry fee is required by 1200 hours noonWednesday 28th March 2012.

2.3Trials will be run for the Laser Standard and Laser Radial Classes. A competitor may enter either or both classes.

2.4 A minimum of three entries in each class shall be required to constitute a race for that class.

Note: The Bermuda Games take place between 13th – 19th July 2013. The expected total cost per competitor is around £2,000/£2,500, which will be reduced by any sponsorship, ESC grant, home stay accommodation.

3FEES

3.1An entry fee of £5.00 shall apply per entry.

3.2Late entries may be accepted at the discretion of the Organising Authority for a fee of £10.00

5SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

The sailing instructions will be available on delivery of a completed application form with the entry fee.

6VENUE

6.1Races will take place in St Aubin’s Bay on 31st March and 21st April. Races will take place in St Catherine’s Bay on 7th April and 5th May. The venue for the spare date will be advised if needed.

7THE COURSES

The course configuration will be trapezoidal with an outer loop.

8PENALTY SYSTEM

8.1Decisions of the protest committee will be final as provided in rule 70.4.

9SCORING

9.1Two races are required to be completed to constitute a series.

9.2(a)When fewer than five races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores.

(b)When from five to six races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score.

10RADIO COMMUNICATION

A boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile telephones.

11PRIZES

There will be no prizes.

The Jersey Sailing Association Selection Committee will use these trials to select two Radial and two Standard representatives for the Jersey Sailing Team for the Bermuda 2013 Games together with reserves to train with the team. The Committee is not obliged to select the competitors who have come first and second in the trials.

13DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY

Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the event.

14INSURANCE

Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of £2 000 000.00 per event or the equivalent, to include racing cover.
