Dear Care Home Manager

Re: Infection Control in Care Homes Champions and Accreditation Programme

We are delighted to inform you that East Sussex County Council and the three Clinical Commissioning Groups in East Sussexhave commissioned Infection PreventionSolutions to provide a FREEInfection Control in Care Homes Champions and Accreditation programme to all Care homes across East Sussex. The company is the UK market leader in infection prevention and control, RCN accredited and currently runs similar programmes across the country.

The Infection Control in Care Homes Champions and Accreditation Programme will be offered free to all care homes and will be available for a time limited period only. It consists of:

  • Free training and package of training support (including a named contact from the company) for an identified infection control ‘Champion’ for each Care Home
  • Opportunity to join an accreditation system to provide assurance of good infection control practice for each Care Home

The programme has been created for registered Care Homes to help them meet the legal requirement for infection prevention and control with the Code of Practice of the Health and Social Care Act 2008. The aim of the training will be to provide the knowledge and skills to disseminate, educate, audit and support the Care Homein the delivery of infection prevention and control standards.

Whilst participation in this programme is entirely voluntary, we would like to strongly encourage you to get involved and find out more as this support will only be available for a limited time and is entirely free. Dee May and/or Karen Foulis fromInfection Prevention Solutionswill be contacting you shortlyto discuss this opportunity for your Care Home.

In the meantime, if you have any immediate queries or would like to express an interest in becoming involved, please contact:

Helen Cheney, Health Protection Specialist on 01273 336834 .
