About us

Youth United is a network of the UK's largest and most established voluntary and volunteering youth organisations. Our vision is that every young person in the UK has the opportunity to be a member of one of our organisations.

We work together to:

•Increase the number of adult volunteers supporting member organisations

•Increase opportunities for young people to be viewed positively and as active citizens contributing to society

•Attract funding and make better use of resources

The organisations that make up Youth United are all independent and work to their own aims and objectives, but through meeting regularly have identified some strength and opportunities in working together.

Member organisations that deliver to young people are: The Scout Association; Girlguiding; St John Ambulance; the Army Cadet Force; the Sea Cadets; the Boys' Brigade; the Girls' Brigade; the Volunteer Police Cadets and the RAF Air Cadets.

Supporting organisations who deliver programmes to members are: The Prince's Trust; RNLI; Mountain Rescue and BTCV. Supporting organisations are: CRFCA; Chief Fire Officer Association; HM Coastguard and The Association of Chief Police Officers. National and Regional Partners are: YOU London, Youth United Avon, Youth United Cheshire, Youth United Derbyshire and Young Dragons.

Our background

HRH The Prince of Wales has long been committed to supporting young people and developing opportunities for them. In 2009 he brought together the largest voluntary youth organisations under the banner of Youth United to develop more joint working and to think about how opportunities for young people could be increased.

Fundraiser

Youth United is the network for some of the largest and most established youth organisations in the UK. Our vision is that every young person in the UK has the opportunity to be a member of a one of our organisations.

The registered charity Youth United Foundation has been established to support the Youth United organisations in working together towards this vision. Our target is to create 40,000 new places for young people over 10 years.

We are currently managing a £10 million grant from the Department of Communities and Local Government as part of the Integration Strategy to promote social mixing among diverse groups within a community and to foster a sense of belonging and community cohesion. The programme aims to increase the number of young people participating in structured activities, focusing on communities where historically there has been less engagement and volunteering, linking young people and adult volunteers from different backgrounds.

As part of this programme we aim to:

•To increase young people’s access to and participation in structured voluntary youth activities

•To enhance inclusion and integration in the target areas

•To enhance the education, employment and training of young people
