The mission of the Jeff Lueck scholarship is to support the endeavors of a North High School senior pursuing a non-traditional post-graduation path.The scholarship will be awarded in the spring and a check for $1,000 will be forwarded to the recipient’s school of choice in late summer.

The Jeff Lueck Scholarship honors the memory and independent spirit of a Renaissance man who enjoyed life following many different paths. Jeff Lueck was a master sailor, ski instructor, historical home remodeler, Grand Canyon trail blazer, airplane mechanic, photographer, store manager, animal rights activist and more. Jeff fervently supported the hopes and dreams of those around him, no matter how creative or unusual. Especially if they were creative and unusual.

CRITERIA FOR APPLICANTS

  • Fargo North High School graduating senior.
  • Enrolled or planning to enroll in some type of school OTHER accredited school, other than a four year college. Examples include: leadership training, culinary school, art school, carpentry school, photography school, design school, cosmetology school etc.
  • Able to display a strong passion for the path they are pursuing through an essay.
  • Able to show how this path is non-traditional and/or creative.
  • Able to provide examples of work in this area such as art work, photographs, recordings, videos, writing samples, etc.

PLEASE COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING ON A SEPARATE PIECE OF PAPER AND SUBMIT IT TO YOUR HIGH SCHOOL GUIDANCE COUNSELOR by March 30, 2018.

The following questions are to be answered in essay form, typed and double spaced, either as one narrative addressing all points or as separate shorter essays. Your total written submission should not be longer than four pages.

  • Discuss your plans including what school you are planning to attend.
  • Discuss how you came to have an interest in this area.
  • Discuss your passion for this area.
  • Describe how this study might be considered non-traditional or creative.
  • Please attach 2 Letters of Recommendation from teacher, coach, staff, employer or other adult over 18 years of age. Letters of recommendation cannot come from a family member.
  • Please attach any supporting examples of your work.(Art work, photography, videos, recordings, writing sample, etc.)
