RE: MUSIC OF THE BAROQUE PRESENTS ONE OF

CHICAGO’S MOST INSPIRING HOLIDAY TRADITIONS

CHICAGO—Five performances of Music of the Baroque’s traditional Holiday Brass and Choral Concerts, conducted by Chorus Director Edward Zelnis, will take place December 18–21.

Music from the 17th century and earlier, performed by the Music of the Baroque Chorus and eight-part brass ensemble, will be heard on Thursday evening, December 18, at Grace Lutheran Church in River Forest; Friday evening, December 19, at historic St. Michael’s Church in Chicago’s Old Town neighborhood; and at Divine Word Chapel in Techny/Northbrook both Saturday afternoon and evening, December 20, and Sunday afternoon, December 21.

On December 11, WTTW Channel 11 will broadcast a one-hour television special, “A Renaissance Christmas,” taken from last year’s holiday performances. The release of the DVD of that program has spurred demand for these very popular concerts. The DVD is available for purchase at

Long recognized as one of Chicago’s leading classical ensembles, Music of the Baroque specializes in the performance of 18th-century works for chorus and orchestra.

This season, all programs except the holiday concerts will be presented twice—at the Harris Theater in Millennium Park and at First United Methodist Church in Evanston. Holiday concerts will continue to be heard at city and suburban neighborhood churches.

Subscription packages and single tickets for the 2008–09 concert season are on sale by phone and online.
