“The Law of the Harvest”

(October 1st, 2011)

Passage: Galatians 6:6-10

“The law of the harvest is a spiritual reality that very closely resembles the basic laws of agriculture;
It basically means that we will eventually reap whatever it is that we have sown in life.”

Job 4:8 "According to what I have seen, those who plow iniquity and those who sow trouble harvest it”

Hos 10:12 “Sow with a view to righteousness, reap in accordance with kindness; break up your fallow ground,
for it is time to seek the LORD until He comes to rain righteousness on you”

Prov 1:31 "So they shall eat of the fruit of their own way and be satiated with theirown devices”

Luke 6:38 "Give, and it will be given to you. They will pour into your lap a good measure -- pressed down,
shaken together, and running over. For by your standard of measure it will be measured to you
in return”

To put it as plainly as I possibly can, the law of the harvest means that every man and every woman will eventually in some way get what is c______to t______.

Isa 3:10-11 “10 Say to the righteous that it will go well with them, for they will eat the fruit of their actions.
11 Woe to the wicked! It will go badly with him, for what he deserves will be done to him”

I. The Principle of I______

Gen 27 (Reference)
Gen29:11“Then Jacob kissed Rachel, and lifted his voice and wept”

Question = What happened to Jacob?

Answer = He had sown “d______;” therefore, as a result of this, he reaped “d______.”

Job 29:12 “(Job said)…I delivered the poor who cried for help, and the orphan who had no helper”

Job 42:11“Then all his brothers and all his sisters and all who had known him before cameto him, and they
ate bread with him in his house; and they consoled him and comforted him for all the adversitiesthat the LORD
had brought on him. And each one gave him one piece of money, and each a ringof gold”

Question = What happened to Job?

Answer = He had sown g______; therefore, as a result of this, he reaped g______.

II. The Principle of I______

Ps 10:11 “He (Referring to the Wicked Man) says to himself, ‘God has forgotten; He has hidden His face;
He will never see it.’"

The wicked man lives under the erroneous assumption that God does not see the evil that he does,

and that God will never hold him a______for it.

Num 32:23“…you can be sure of this your sin will find you out”

Exod 12:30 (Reference)
Exod 14:28 “The waters returned and covered the chariots and the horsemen, even Pharaoh'sentire army that
had gone into the sea after them; not even one of them remained”

Ps 136:15 “…He (Referring to God)overthrew Pharaoh and his army in the Red Sea,…”

As one man said it, “The wheels of God’s judgment grind slowly, but they grind e______
f______.”

Heb 6:10“For God is not unjust so as to forget your work and the love which you have shown toward His name,
in having ministered and in still ministering to the saints”

III. The Principle of I______

In a negative sense, this means that we always reap more than we sow when we get involved in s______.

Hosea 8:7 “For they sow the wind and they reap the whirlwind…”

In a positive sense, this means that we always reap more than we sow when we get involved in being

a b______to others.

2 Cor 9:6 “Now this I say, he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will
also reap bountifully”
Eccl 11:1 “Cast your bread on the surface of the waters, for you will find it after many days”

Eccl 11:4“He who watches the wind will not sow and he who looks at the clouds will not reap”

IV. The Principle of I______

Rom 14:7“For not one of us lives for himself, and not one dies for himself”

Exod 34:7 “…He(Referring to God)will by no means leave the guilty unpunished, visiting the iniquity of fathers
on the children and on the grandchildren to the third and fourth generations”

1 Kings 13:33-34 “33 After this event Jeroboam did not return from his evil way, but again he made priests
of the high places from among all the people; any who would, he ordained, to be priests
of the high places. 34 This event became sin to the house of Jeroboam, even to blot it out
and destroy it from off the face of the earth”
1 Kings 15:25-26 “25 Now Nadab the son of Jeroboam became king over Israel in the second year of Asa king
of Judah, and he reigned over Israel two years. 26 He did evil in the sight of the Lord,
and walked in the way of his father and in his sin which he made Israel sin”

Others reaped what King Jeroboam had sown, and this sin of idolatry brought devastating consequences

to his family for s______g______.

Exod 20:5-6 “5 …for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on
the children, on the third and the fourth generations of those who hate Me, 6 but showing
lovingkindness to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments”

Paul is encouraging us to do three things in this passage.
1) First, He is Saying, “Don’t Give in to S______.”

2) Second, He is Saying “Don’t Give Up in S______.”
3) Third, He is Saying, “Don’t Give Out in S______.”

2) Second, He is Saying “Don’t Give Up in Serving” - vs 9 (Read)

2 Cor 5:21“He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness
of God in Him”
