An Epistle from St. Paul’s Page TWO September 2011
On Pilgrimage with Father Will
September 18 is a very special day at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Lock Haven. We will join with some 10,000 other churches nation-wide to sponsor a Homecoming for all previous, current and future members of this Episcopal congregation.
The idea is to return Home and re-connect with your old friends in Christ. Vestry thought this was a good opportunity to renew acquaintances, meet some of the “old-timers” to whom we are so indebted, express our appreciation of you and just enjoy your company.
You know who you are, but you did not know that we are meeting at 10:30 a.m. again on Sunday mornings. That’s a sensible hour, not too early and far enough away from lunchtime.
We have a handicapped ramp up the left side of the Church, and we will have inside ramps in place to get from the Nave to The Lord Room for a modest reception to honor you.
The most important aspect of St. Paul’s Homecoming will be worship together. We will try to keep things traditional, liturgy the way it used to be, and a sermon based upon Holy Scripture, not the fad or celebrity of the day. Then we can retire to The Lord Room in back for coffee, tea and conversation.
The success of St. Paul’s Homecoming, of course, depends upon you personally. If your old friends show up and you are not there, we all lose. So, mark it on your calendar, line up some friends or relatives to bring you to 112 East Main, and plan on fun and prayer.
We also hope that younger folks who may have visited us once or twice can come, see how these Episcopalians love one another, and enjoy your company. Leave a message on our answering machine at (570) 748-2440 so we can plan on how many are returning this special day.
Yours in Christ,
Father Will
