INT.TADZEK'S-LIVING ROOM-DAY
A man named Tadzek is putting some candy and a tin can into a box. The box is labled "TO POLAND" He grabs the box with his hands and takes it outside with him. As he steps onto his porch a mailman is climbing up the porch. Tadzek hands him the box.
TADZEK
Will take this to the post office and have it mailed immediaitly.
MAIL MAN
Sure
TADZEK
Thank you, I'll see you tommorrow.
MAIL MAN
Bye
EXT.STELLA'S HOUSE
Stella is standing on her porch. The box that Tadzek sent is now sitting in front of her. She picks up and reads it.
STELLA
Must be the food from Tadzek.
Stealla turns around and walks into the house.
INT.STELLA'S HOUSE-KITCHEN
Stella sets the package on the kitchen table and then picks up the cordless phone that sits next to it She dials a number.
JAKE
(O.S.)
Hello.
STELLA
Hi Jake do you and Maria want to come over and help me make the food Tadzek sent me?
JAKE
(O.S.)
Sure we'll be right over.
STELLA
All right then. See yea in a few minutes.
JAKE
(O.S.)
Okay bye.
STELLA
Bye.
Stella hangs up the phone then sets it down. She walks over to the package she tries to open the box by ripping the tape but it is on to tight. She walks over to a drawer and opens it. She pulls out a pair of scissors she goes back to the tape and cuts the tape but then slips and cuts her finger.
INT.STELLA'S HOUSE-BATHROOM
Stella grabs a band from the cupboard and puts it around her finger. The doorbell rings. Stella walks out of the room then goes to the front door and opens it. Behind the door Jake and Maria are standing.
STELLA
Hello, how yea doing?
MARIA
Good you?
STELLA
Pretty good, come on in.
Jake and Maria walk inside the house. Stella shuts the door.
INT.STELLA'S HOUSE-KITCHEN
The three of them wakl inside of the kitchen.
JAKE
So what are we making?
STELLA
Not sure didn't open the box yer.
JAKE
Well then let's open it.
STELLA
Okay, okay.
They walk over to the box and opens the box. Inside there is some candy, nuts, and a tin can.
MARIA
What's in the tin can?
Stella opens the can up to reveal the contants which looks like flaky, dirty flour.
STELLA
It must be some kind of flour.
JAKE
I don't remember flour being so dark.
STELLA
It's probably some kind of American flour.
JAKE
American's must eat some weird food.
STELLA
I guess so.
Maria picks up the tin can and puts onto the counter.
MARIA
So what are we going to make with this.
JAKE
Well we can just eat the candy now and use the nuts and flour, if that is flour, to make something to eat.
STELLA
(Sarcasticly)
Yea, thats what I plan on doing.
JAKE
(Sarcasticly)
Sorry.
MARIA
Hey guys I have an idea.
STELLA
What?
MARIA
Let's make stollen.
STELLA
Yea that sounds good.
JAKE
I'll be in the front room watching TV cause I have no idea what you two are making.
Jake walks into the front room sits on the sofa and turns on the TV.
INT.STELLA'S HOUSE-KITCHEN
Stella is mixing a bowl of the flour and water. While she is mixing she is sneezing.
STELLA
This stuff gives me allergies.
MARIA
I wonder what kind of flour it is?
STELLA
I don't know, but it is really starting to get to me.
Stella pours the mix into a pan. Maria opens the stove for Stella and Stella puts the pan into the stove and sets the timer for 30 minutes.
JAKE
(O.S.)
Can someone bring me a glass of water.
MARIA
Get off your lazy ass and get it yourself.
JAKE
(O.S.)
Someone's got an attitude.
DISSOLVE TO:
INT.STELLA'S HOUSE-KITCHEN
Time has passed. Jake walks in with a a empty glass in his hands. He sets it down onto the counter. Stella is in the sink washing her hands.
JAKE
Is the food done yet.
MARIA
Almost.
The buzzer on the stove goes off.
JAKE
Yeah, it's done.
Stella dries her hands and turns off the stove. She opens the stove and pulls out the stollen. She sets it on top of the stove then gose to the drawer and pulls out a knife. She begins to cut the stollen into slices and serves them onto plates.
She hands two plates of the stollen to Maria and Maria sits down at the table and hands the other plate to Jake. Stella sits down also with her own plate. They all take a bite.
JAKE
Ewwww! What the hell is this stuff.
Maria and Stella spit thier's out.
STELLA
This stuff is gross.
Stella picks up her plate and walks to the garbadge which is near the counter. She dumps the found inside and puts her plate into the sink as she turns she knocks over the box that Tadzek sent onto the floor. A package of Candy, nuts, and an envelope.
Stella bend down and grabs the envelope and then opens it up and takes out a TYPED letter. She reads it outloud.
STELLA
My Stella, our Babcia has died this week of an unexpected illiness. I have enclosedin a flur tin of aluminum, which should not trigger airpirt metal detectors, the ashes of her cremated remains. Please spread them over our family graden in Lodz as she wished.
The is a silence. Stella drops the letter to the floor. Everyone is shocked.
JAKE
Oh my God.
