Shipwright Expert Joins Davis Consulting

Allen C. Rawl, a shipwright with over 30 years experience in wooden ship building and restoration has joined Davis Consulting Group (DCG) marine engineers, a division of Davis & Company, Ltd., as a Consultant. His addition brings the number to ten professionals on the company's nationwide team of marine surveyors and naval architects that specialize in the areas of engineering and design and accident reconstruction, fire and explosion cause and origin, forensic engineering and commercial vessel surveying.

He has built the vessels “Federalist” for the State of Maryland’s Bicentennial office, “Susan Constant” a 297 ton recreation of a colonial vessel constructed onsite at the Jamestown settlement in Virginia, “Kalmar Nyckel” a tall ship and restored the vessels “Rosa” in Viareggio, Italy, “Martha Lewis” a Chesapeake Bay Skipjack now in charter service (USCG certified) in Maryland. He has been contracted by the US Park Service as a wooden ship expert in completion of the condition and valuation survey of the steam schooner “Wampa.

His more recent projects include building two 90’ brigantine rigged sailing vessels, “Irving Johnson” and “Exy Johnson” for the Los Angeles Maritime Institute in San Pedro, California and the rehabilitation of the “C.A. Thayer” for the San Francisco National Maritime Historic Park, San Francisco, California.
