House Rules

Renter is responsible for any and all property damages to the Schaefer Center caused by acts of Renter or its agents, employees, patrons, guests, and artists whether accidental or otherwise (ordinary wear and use expected). Renter agrees to leave the facility in the same condition as existed on the date that activity commenced.

Schaefer Center Rental Fees:

  • $300 for the first night
  • $250 for each night after
  • $100 for first rehearsal if lighting operator is present
  • $75 per rehearsal for each night after (even if lighting operator is present)
  • $75 for first rehearsal if light operator is not present
  • Discounts are available for nonprofits. Please call the Main Street Toccoa at 706-282-3309 for further information.
  • Full payment of rental fee is due two weeks prior to event date. If full payment is not received two weeks prior to event date, the City of Toccoa reserves the right to book another event on that day as events are booked on a first come, first serve basis.

Rental Fee Includes…

  • The use of the Schaefer Center for the entire day of your event.
  • Cleaning of the Schaefer Center before and after your event (see below for more detail).
  • The Schaefer Center light operator for the length of your performance (see below for more detail).
  • A Main Street staff member to open and close the building on each day you have paid for.
  • Main Street staff needs one week notice in order to open the Schaefer Center.
  • A Main Street staff member to operate the heating and air conditioning system. Please do not touch the heating and air conditioning system.
  • Access to restricted access areas if requested (see below for more detail).
  • Paper products in the bathrooms.
  • Two 6-foot tables available upon request.

Rental Fee DOES NOT include…

  • Someone to help you load/unload your equipment.
  • Early arrival of cast, crew or patrons outside of the designated rental period indicated on your reservation form.
  • Storage of props, costumes, or equipment more than 24 hours after your event
  • Access to the balcony (see below for more detail).
  • The use of the Schaefer Center popcorn machine, Baby Grand Piano, or screen and projector system (see below for more detail).
  • Event security. The police department is located next door to the Schaefer Center if any problems arise. You may bring your own security if desired.

Food/Drink

  • Food and drink is allowed in the theater. However you must let us know if extra cleaning will be required afterward because of food/drink (i.e. something spilled on the wood floors).
  • Per the Health Department, COOKING IN ANY FORM IS PROHIBITED INSIDE THE SCHAEFER CENTER (including but not limited to hotplates, fryers, and popcorn machines)
  • If you want to serve popcorn, then it must be pre-packaged. No popping allowed.
  • There is NO GUM allowed in the theater. If gum is found in the carpet, a $100 cleaning fee will be charged.
  • The Concession Stand is available for use at no extra charge. However you must let us know you will need access to it otherwise the door will be locked.
  • Alcoholic beverages are allowed. However they must be served by a licensed vendor. A City of Toccoa Application for Temporary Caterers Off-Premise License must be turned in 2 weeks before the event date. The cost of this application is $50. An application is available in the Main Street office.

Designated smoking areas

  • Smoking is only allowed outside. There is no smoking permitted inside the facility. Outside smoking must be at least fifteen feet away from entrances.

Restricted access areas

  • These areas will be locked unless you indicate on your reservation form that you need access to them. You may have access to them at no additional charge, but Main Street Staff need to know prior to your event that you will need access to them. Please limit the number of people who have access to these areas of the Schaefer Center.
  • Orchestra pit
  • Dressing rooms
  • Concession stand
  • Ticket booth

Balcony

  • Currently the balcony is off limits to non-Main Street staff. If you bring your own light operator (see Light and Sound section) we can make arrangements for him/her to have access to the balcony.

Cleanliness

  • The Schaefer Center will be cleaned before you arrive. Your rental fee includes clean-up afterwards.
  • If you have more than one show/performance, and would like the theater cleaned in between, an extra cleaning is available for $50. One (1) week notice is required for extra cleaning.

Advertisements

  • Unless told otherwise, Main Street staff will include your performance or show in our Weekly Update for the two weeks prior to your event and post your event on the Schaefer Center Facebook page for the two weeks prior to your event.

Lights and Sound

  • The Schaefer Center provides an operator to run the lightsfor your performance. You may provide your own operator, but the rental price will not be reduced.
  • Sound is available for an additional fee. Please contact Charles Taylor at 706-716-9328 to arrange for sound. You may bring your own sound equipment but the rental price will not be reduced.
  • The Schaefer Center light operator will be present during any rehearsals you pay for, but only if requested in advance. The operator needs at least 1 week notice in order to be present for rehearsals.

Props and Equipment

  • You may bring in whatever props/equipment you need to perform.
  • All equipment must be unloaded/loaded from the loading dock at the rear of the building. No equipment should be brought through the front doors.
  • All props/equipment must be removed from the Schaefer Center within 24 hours. If you need to leave your props/equipment for longer than the allotted time, please make arrangements with Main Street Staff.
  • If arrangements are made, The City of Toccoa is not liable for any stolen or damaged property.
  • NO nails, tacks, staples, or other material/items shall be driven into any portion of the building. Use of scotch or masking tape is allowed.
  • NO candles allowed. The use of battery powered candles is allowed.

Baby Grand Piano

  • Use of the Baby Grand Piano is $75.
  • Please arrange with the Main Street Office to unlock the piano if you reserve it for use.

Screen and Projector System

  • Use of the screen and projector system is $100.
  • DO NOT touch the screen and projector system. If you rent the system, a Main Street staff member will be present to work the system for you.

Plumbing

  • Plumbing issues in any of the restrooms, including the ones in the dressing rooms, should be reported to the House Manager and to Main Street staff as soon as possible.

Parking

  • Free parking is available at the facility.

Cancellation

  • Please let us know as soon as possible if you need to cancel or change the date of your event.

Please sign below acknowledging you have read the Schaefer Center House Rules and agree to comply with them. Any noncompliance may result in you not being able to rent the Schaefer Center in the future.
