4: Teachers’ Performance Enhancement Statistics:
Luc Cauchon presented statistics showing the number of new teachers and tenure-track teachers to
be seen, including the number of teachers who already had two evaluations and were waived. He also reported on the number of teachers who received an unsatisfactory evaluation.
5: New Business presented:
5.1: Staffing Update
Luc Cauchon presented grids of excess and needs in the elementary schools and in the high
schools. The numbers show that we will need nearly 100 new teachers for the high schools. At
the elementary level, there are 41 teachers in excess, and enough open posts in each sector to place those teachers. Springdale is the single school that was most impacted by the major school change and a decline in registration. There are 8 teachers who are school excess and another one could be board excess. An update on the placement of those teachers will be presented at the June 5, 2006 meeting.
5.2: New Team in Human Resources Department:
The new HR administrative team was presented, John Brennon, Director, Steve Balleine, Assistant-Director, Valerie Pelletier and Carol Mastantuono, Coordinators. Tom McKenzie will remain Assistant-Director for payroll. Viviane Saucier did not attend the meeting. Her post was modified from a consultant position to a managerial position but she is remaining with similar tasks.
6: Other Business:
Questions were asked regarding the supposed increase of complaints of violence in Canadian schools. So far this year, HR received 2 official complaints in accordance with our Safe School Policy. Formal investigations were done in both cases and follow-up actions were done.
Date of Next Meeting: June 5, 2006
Respectfully submitted:
John Killingbeck
