Jetstar launches new low fares link from
Ningbo* to Singapore

Low fares leader Jetstar has announced its 5th destination in mainland China – Ningbo*, with direct services from Singapore. (Subject to regulatory approval)

The new service would provide new direct point-to-point traffic between Ningbo* and Singapore.

Jetstar which flies to more than 50 destinations in 14 countries is the fastest growing low-cost airline in the Asia Pacific region.

Its pan Asian network extends from Australia through Singapore, as well as to Japan, China, and Vietnam. The airline also operates services to New Zealand, and includes a direct link between Singapore and Auckland.

Jetstar is celebrating its launch of its Ningbo*-Singapore services with an all-inclusive one-way Economy Starter sale fare from CNY598 (point of sale Ningbo). The sale commences at 15:30 NGB/SIN local time on 6 July 2011 and runs until 23.59, 7 July 2011 at Jetstar.com unless seats sell out prior.

This sale is valid for travel from 9 September until 15 November 2011. Seats are subject to availability and may not be available on all flights. Terms and conditions apply, see Jetstar.com for details.

Jetstar Asia Chief Executive Officer, Ms Chong Phit Lian was in Ningbo to announce the new service today.

“We are honored to be the first carrier between Ningbo and Singapore,” she said. “The new service offers a unique opportunity for travel between Ningbo* and Singapore through Jetstar’s low fares.”

“This service will also provide important direct access through Singapore to Jetstar’s broader Asia Pacific network to destinations such as Bali and Jakarta in Indonesia, Phuket and Bangkok in Thailand, Melbourne in Australia and Auckland in New Zealand,” she added.

Ms Chong added that Ningbo’s status as the second largest port in China would also mean new opportunities for business travel between Singapore and Ningbo.

“When Jetstar has launched first time direct services, like we have with Hangzhou, Shantou and Guilin in the past, what we have seen is a growing number of business travellers who are keen to shave the hours lost in connection times and multiple flights.

Mr Yew Sung Pei, Assistant Chief Executive Officer of International Enterprise (IE) Singapore said, “We are seeing increasing interest from Singapore-based companies in Zhejiang in various sectors over the past years, especially in the capital city of Hangzhou and the vibrant port city of Ningbo. Jetstar launched a direct flight to Hangzhou in March this year and with the addition of this Ningbo flight, the connectivity between Singapore and Zhejiang, and the entire Yangtze River Delta region will be further improved, offering better market access for bilateral exchanges. As the Secretariat of the Singapore-Zhejiang Economic and Trade Council, IE Singapore supports this effort and will continue to facilitate more Singapore-Zhejiang partnerships.”
