COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course is designed to provide a theoretical framework and practical strategies for teaching reading and writing to ESL students. More importantly, however, this class will offer the opportunity for participants to be reflective about their own teaching philosophy as it pertains to reading and writing. If instructors are consciously aware of their teaching philosophies, they can teach effectively with any materials.

Since we will be creating materials for use in a content-based classroom, we will be studying reading and writing simultaneously. Each participant will leave the course with fully developed materials.

Washington Academy of Languages is committed to preparing educators for service and leadership in schools and communities by developing their professional competence and character.
