Elaboration:

BRAINSTORMING: In order to create/write a research paper, one must first have a general idea of what they wish to cover. Brainstorming is therefore an essential element in preparing for this process. Students are divided by gender to give all students equal opportunity to weigh in on the issue without fear of ridicule.

GRAPHIC ORGANIZER: Have the end in mind before you start! A graphic organizer will help the students SEE the structure of their paper. Two graphic organizers are provided. Students may choose which of the two that they choose to use.

OUTLINE: The INTRODUCTION and CONCLUSION must be completely written out. Students must include an AG, the prompt, and fully developed thesis in their introduction. The conclusion must restate the major ideas of the paper (in a slightly different manner from the theses, and contain a ‘tie’ back to the AG. Both the introduction and conclusion should have summary sentences at the end of the paragraph.

NOTE CARDS: Organization when writing research papers is paramount. EVEN THOUGH the research has already been done for the students, it is still important to learn/review the standard process of paper writing. 15 minimum are required.

ROUGH DRAFT: Must be typed with proper citation in MLA format

PEER EDITING: Sheets will be provided to help guide the editors

FINAL COPY: TYPED; CITED; MLA FORMAT; WITH WORKS CITED PAGE.

Students must turn in the rough draft (with edits) along with their Final copy.
