MAKE IT WITH WOOL CONTESTS
To expand the use of wool fibers we have creative categories: 3-d Art which include sculptures and needle felted framed art and Non Wearable Accessories which could include felting and fabric in wall hangings, pillows, etc. We also want to encourage felting in the present Wearable Accessories competition which would include vests, purses, hats and jewelry.
The creation of felted garments and other objects dates back to the 1200s BC. Transforming fleece into felt has inspired craft people and designers to experiment with a wide range of effects to produce truly original pieces and art. This promotes wool fibers and items entered that are felted do not need to have an accurate analysis done because only wool fibers will felt. The fabric items must be tested as in the clothing contest. Send 2 - 5”x 5” swatches with entry form on right. Refer to #1 on left.
Cut entry form from brochure for “Texas Only” 3-D Felted Art and Non Wearable Accessories competition and mail entry to Assistant Texas Director, Suzy Stewart along with a $10.00 fee per item entered. Make checks to payable to “Texas MIWW”.
