CDSA’s own Ryan Dixon (U10 Boys) named Goldey-BeacomCollegeHead Men’s Soccer Coach

WILMINGTON, DE – Goldey-Beacom College Director of Athletics Chuck Hammond announced on Thursday the appointment of Ryan Dixon as the fourth head coach in the history of the Men’s Soccer program. Dixon, who served on the Lightning’s coaching staff the previous season, assumes the head coaching vacancy created after the retirement of longtime coach Mike Finizio.

"I would like to thank both the athletic department and administration for this opportunity. I feel grateful to be a part of an institution so reputable in academics and athletics. I am looking forward to building on the foundation of the Goldey-Beacom soccer program" said Dixon.

Prior to Goldey-Beacom College, Dixon served as the head coach of the Delaware Technical and Community College Men’s Soccer program for three seasons. Under his watch, eight different players were regionally ranked in scoring and his goalkeeper was ranked third in the region.

“We were extremely impressed with Ryan’s vision for our soccer program after the retirement of Coach Finizio. He has done a tremendous job in a short amount of time here on campus. We are confident that under Ryan’s stewardship, our Men’s Soccer program will flourish on and off the field” Hammond stated of Dixon.

Dixon graduated from RowanUniversity with a degree in Health and Exercise Science. As a goalkeeper for the men's soccer team, he helped lead Rowan to two New Jersey Athletic Conference championships and four appearances in the NCAA Division III championship tournament. While at Rowan, he had the opportunity to play in the NCAA final four and national championship game.

He went on to earn his master's degree in Health, Physical Education and Recreation from EmporiaStateUniversity in 2010. He has his USSF D license and his NSCAA National Goalkeeping diploma. He coaches local club soccer and is a teacher at SmyrnaHigh School. Dixon resides in Dover with his wife and three children.
