Post 169 Members are expected to be leaders, scholars, and critical thinkers who exhibit strong moral character, compassion for others, and commitment to Post 169 activities and events. Parents and/or Guardians reinforce and encourage Post 169 standards, protocols, and by-laws of members.
Meetings are held monthly from 6:30pm to 8pm. Students can be dropped off at the main entrance of Jersey Shore University Medical Center. The meetings will begin in the same location each month- in Lance Auditorium. The group may leave that room for tours, etc. At the end of the meeting, students will be accompanied to the main entrance to be picked up.
What is expected of the Explorer
Post 169 members conduct themselves and others with dignity and respect. Members are expected to:
1. Complete all required paperwork, and pay a one-time membership fee of $35.00. Scholarships are available.
2. Wear your Medical Explorers tee shirt and lanyard with ID to all meetings
3. Understand the need to be quiet and calm when touring the hospital, and to show respect to the patients and staff.
4. Respect the confidential nature of the hospital, and the patients they see when touring.
5. Appreciate our volunteer speakers:
a. Arrive to the meeting on time- late arrivals are very disruptive and they cause delays in the start of the meeting.
b. Pay attention to the speaker- ask questions and show interest.
c. Thank the speaker at the end of the session.
6. Play a role in the development of the Medical Explorers Program:
a. Participate on the Leadership Council, or
b. Respond to Leadership Council or leader requests for assistance, or
c. Participate in Medical Explorers activities.
Leadership Council
The Leadership Council will consist of no more than 8 students who have expressed an interest in planning and supporting the Medical Explorers. The council will assist with the monthly meetings and events.
