Singapore Approach Maths —No Problem!
3rd4th July 2017 Queen Elizabeth’s School, Wimborne
The Singapore method of teaching mathematics develops pupils' mathematical ability and confidence. As a result, pupils no longer need to resort to memorising procedures, which makes mathematics more engaging and interesting.
Ofsted, National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics (NCETM), the Department for Education, and the National Curriculum Review Committee have all emphasised the pedagogy and heuristics used by Singapore. This method is now being applied successfully in the UK.
Maths — No Problem!
This professional development has been arranged in conjunction with Maths—No Problem!, the UK’s experts in teaching for mastery using the methods from Singapore. Maths—No Problem! was the first to publish a primary textbook which is fully aligned with the 2014 National Curriculum and has been chosen by the Department for Education to provide professional development and resources to the Maths Hubs as part of the NCETM’s High Quality Textbook Programme.
