House number______Street______Date______

Good communal living relies on clearly communicating expectations and reaching an agreement beneficial to all. Please use this sheet to think about your living arrangements before your House Tutor comes to the House meeting, when all of you must be present.

Communal Space: Kitchen Cupboards, Fridge-Freezer (special dietary requirements?)
Saucepans, Cooking Utensils, Crockery (i.e. shared or individual?)
Buying and Using Cleaning Products (e.g. washing up liquid, oven cleaner, sponges, tea towels)
Communal Cleaning (e.g. dishes and utensils after cooking, surfaces, floors)
Taking out the rubbish and recycling (rota?)
Guests (overnight stay?)
Any other agreements between the residents…
Signed by all the house residents…

Res Life is committed to looking after each of the residents' welfare...

In case that the agreements on the other page are not respected we recommend that the student raises the issue through honest and direct dialogue. It is common for unawareness to be a friction point. If the issue after being discussed does not get better we will be delighted to help. Please inform your House Tutor by emailing them.

Things you need to know…

You are responsible for the behavior of your guests at your accommodation, including any damage or noise they cause.

Charges for communal areas will be split between all the residents unless the person responsible claims responsibility by emailing

Smoking is not permitted within the accommodation. Please use the areas outside and discard cigarette ends in a respectable manner. The University of Hull has a zero tolerance to drugs policy. If you are found to be using illegal drugs you will have to attend a disciplinary meeting and may be referred to the police.

If the fire alarm goes off:

·  Make sure you know where the fire exits are and that they are kept clear at all times (No Bikes, etc. are to be kept in escape routes like kitchen/landings)

·  Leave as quickly as possible when the alarm sounds. Don't stop to pick up belongings but take your keys with you if they are within reach

·  Ring 999 and inform Security on 01482465555/466868

·  Go to the designated fire assembly point

·  Check everyone in your flat is at the Assembly Point. Report if there is someone missing to security

·  Do not re-enter the building unless told it is safe to do so by Security / Fire Officer staff

You can prevent false alarms from happening by:

·  Never leaving food unattended on the cooker

·  Never propping the kitchen door open

·  Never smoking or using candles/bongs/shishas/incense sticks

·  Never using deodorants or air fresheners close to the fire detector
