Subject: SWAT Operator Course Prerequisites

The Herkimer Police Special Response Team is sponsoring the DCJS approved SWAT Operator Course, commencing May 12, 2014. Instead of having to send officers for 4 weeks straight to meet the minimum hours, we are stretching the course out over a couple months time. Classes will be 12 hour days and will be held on the following Mondays’: 05/12/14, 05/19/14, 05/26/14, 06/09/14, 06/16/14, 06/23/14, 06/30/14, 07/07/14, 07/14/14, 07/21/14, 07/28/14, and 08/04/14. Some classes will include evening sessions.

DCJS REQUIRES that Students must meet all the prerequisites of the course and bring every item of equipment to successfully participate in training. A list of the required equipment and required pre-requisite testing (medical, physical fitness, handgun shooting and an APR fit test) is attached. For those agencies that do not have a PT or Firearms Instructor, we will be hosting a physical fitness test on Sunday April 13, 2014 and firearms proficiency on Sunday April 20, 2014.

Students who have not successfully completed the prerequisite testing or fail to provide documentation on the attached SWAT Operator Course – Applicant Prerequisite testing form on the first day of the course will be excluded from the course.

Students who fail to bring the required equipment will be excluded from the course.

THERE WILL BE A NON-REFUNDABLE FEE OF $250 PER STUDENT TO COVER COURSE FEES, (LESS LETHAL, NFDD’S, CHEMICAL AGENTS, SIMUNITIONS, ETC….) THIS MUST BE PAID PRIOR TO THE FIRST DATE OF CLASS.
