Wellies-On CIC offers a variety of services for different clients and students. We work with young people from primary years and upwards who have been or are at risk of being excluded from school and/or have emotional and behavioural difficulties. We also work with adults with learning difficulties, older adults, and the homeless, people with health and mental health difficulties and people with a history of substance/alcohol misuse.

We are a working farm on the outskirts of Mersea. We have chickens, horses, Shetland ponies, stable yard and ménage, pygmy goats, pigs, and sheep. There is also a herd of goats with fully operational mechanical dairy used to make award winning ‘Caprillate’ goats milk ice cream.

The role

This is an exciting opportunity available at Wellies-On Community Interest Company; a social enterprise providing services for people with diverse and complex needs within a busy 37-acre site in Abberton, Colchester.

The farm provides an opportunity for training, employment and wellbeing outcomes for people in our community. The right candidate will be able to provide motivating opportunities for the people we support in order to help them achieve their goals. These opportunities will be provided through working with animals, maintaining the site, cultivating seasonal plants and producing items to sell.

The right candidate can utilise their skills and knowledge to empower people to reach personal goals. They will be responsible for planning projects and activities appropriate to the client group, help maintain current links and create new relationships within the community. One of the main aims of this post is to increase capacity through developing new projects.

In addition to the above, the right candidate will be able to help plan and facilitate events at the farm and will be happy to turn their hand to administrative tasks.

This is a job which requires a variety of different skills. If you are experienced and capable at some but not all, we will consider your application. It is a challenging but rewarding post.
