Job Purpose / To co-ordinate under the guidance of Matron, the social activities for all residents at AHNH

Description of Duties
Primary Functional Objectives of the Role / ·  To co-ordinate under the guidance of the nursing staff, an activities programme for all residents
·  To liaise with Daycare AHH for activities as appropriate
·  To be up to date on current thinking around activities and psychological stimulation needed for low-awareness dementia residents (1:1 in rooms), NAPA, Alzheimer’s society
·  Work closely with the care staff and key workers of the longer stay patients to individualise the activities as much as possible to enhance the quality of life for these patients
·  To hold a small budget for activities
·  To plan and organise activities, including individual activities and a monthly plan to be displayed on the notice board
·  Activities care plan to be documented in the patients personal care plan, including photos of events
·  Prepare and maintain an album of activities and events
·  Motivate and guide nursing staff and volunteers to become involved in social activities
·  To handle and treat gently and with compassion each patient, bearing in mind their age, frailty, etc. and safeguarding vulnerable adults.
·  Ensure compliance to all policies, procedures, standard operating practices, with recommendations for action and continuous improvement.
·  To organise days out for residents
·  To undertake any other jobs as requested by Matron
Primary Line/Performance Management Objectives of the Role
(If Applicable) / ·  Attend all Mandatory training and staff meetings as requested by the Matron
·  Attend and engage with annual appraisals
Responsibilities for:
Assets / ·  Responsible for equipment provided by the Trust as required for this role
Finance / ·  Ensure any purchases for activities are in line with budgets, liaising with Matron where unsure
Communications / ·  Ensure consistent and effective communication with all levels of the organisation

ACTIVITIES ORGANISER: PERSON SPECIFICATION
Experience & Knowledge
Essential
·  Previous experience in the care sector
·  Previous experience within an activities role
·  Full driving licence
Desirable
·  Training in brain injuries and low level awareness
Qualifications
·  NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care desirable
Health & Safety (exposure to risk)
·  High exposure to risk, infection control, fire, moving and handling
