QUALIFICATIONS

For the past three years I have been heavily involved in fire suppression, both in structural and wildland. I have also been heavily involved in EMS within our department. Throughout my fire career I have strived for all the training that I have been able to take. Major areas of training related to the fire service that I have taken are EMT-Basic, haz-mat operations, advanced extrication, technical rescue, wildland fire suppression, public education, strategies and tactics, and, engineering of fire apparatus. Kootenai County Fire and Rescue will continue to benefit with my skills, knowledge, and heart that I will have as a career firefighter/EMT.

EMPLOYMENT

2000-2002 Kootenai County Fire & Rescue Post Falls, ID Resident Firefighter

As a resident firefighter I live at Kootenai County Fire and Rescue station 2. As a resident have many responsibilities. I am assigned to green shift. As a green shifter on the weekdays I am required to pull 12-hour shifts and if green shift falls on a weekend I am required to pull a 24 hour shift. As well as the other five residents I am responsible for maintaining the station. I clean the station whenever needed and on my shift days. I do small truck maintenance and make sure the trucks are in service at all times. I have been a resident for almost a year and a volunteer with the department prior to my residency

2000-2002 U. S. Forest Service Coeurd’Alene, ID Wildland Firefighter

I am currently a seasonal wildland firefighter with Coeur d'Alene River Ranger District. In the spring time I participate in prescribed burns. As fire season comes I get sent out on 20 person crews to anywhere in the country. When I am home on the district I am involved in initial attacks of fires. I also a type IV incident commander. The types of jobs I have when fighting fires are, class B sawyer, engine boss, IC, squad boss, holding boss, and a regular ground pounder. The tools I use are pulaskis, combi-tools, Stihl chainsaws, mark III pumps, hose, hose appliances, and common sense.

2000-2001 Guardian Angel Homes Post Falls, ID Certified Nursing Assistant

At Guardian Angel Homes I started on graveyard shift cleaning the house that I was assigned to. In this house I also checked on the residents every two hours to make sure they were ok. After a month of graveyard shift my job switched to being the van driver. In addition to taking care of residents I took them to the doctor. I also participated in resident activities for example helping with making crafts and helping with parties.
