Teaching American History (TAH) Resource Page

TAH Website

The TAH website provides general information about the Teaching American History Program. You will also find the program statute, eligibility requirements, applicant information, program staff contact information, Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs), and soon will include a copy of today’s Power point presentation as well as a taped version of today’s presentation.

Federal Register

The FY 2011 TAH Federal Register provides applicants with all relevant information for TAH grant applications.

TAH Application Package

The TAH Application Package provides instructions on how to submit a TAH application. It also includes the Notice Inviting Applications (NIA), program statute, and instructions for mandatory forms. Word and PDF versions of the application package can be found on the TAH website.

Call for TAH Peer Reviewers

If you are interested in serving as a TAH peer reviewer for the FY 2011 grant competition, please go to the TAH website and look under What’s New. There you will find instructions for completing the TAH Reviewer Checklist and submitting your resume.

TAH Statute

TAH is authorized under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965, as amended, Title II, Part C, Subpart 4. The authorizing legislation can be found at the link provided.

Education Department General Administration Regulations (EDGAR)

The Department of Education’s regulations that govern grant making and administration for formula and discretionary grant program. The entire regulation includes Parts 74-86 and 97-99

  • Part 74 applies to institutions of higher education (IHEs) and other nonprofit organizations
  • Part 75 applies to all recipients of discretionary grant (direct grant) programs
  • Part 80 applies to state and local governments, i.e. State Education Agencies (SEAs) and Local Education Agencies (LEAs)

OMB Circulars

The Office of Management and Budget circulars address a variety of topics/issues and create standardized policies and procedures across the government. The OMB circulars are “letters of instruction” from the Office of Management and Budget to the Department and agencies but do not overrule legislation or regulation.

Grant Making at ED

Grant making at ED provides general information on the types of grants available through the Department, as well as, the grant-making process and grantees’ roles and responsibilities.

Grants.gov

Grants.gov is the government-wide portal used to FIND and APPLY for federal grant opportunities. All TAH applications must be submitted electronically via Grants.gov.
