2017-2018 FALL TRYOUT & PRACTICE INFORMATION
Softball:KJHS softball tryouts begin Monday, July 24 and go through Wednesday, July 26atOakdale Elementary School. Tryouts for all 6th-8th graders will be Mon – Wed from
9am – 11am. All girls interested in trying out must bring their athletic gold slip to tryouts on the first day. Please wear a gray shirt with your last name on the back and bring the following: glove, proper shoes, and water.
Baseball:All 6th, 7th, and 8th graders interested in trying out NEED to come and sign up Sunday, July 30, 2017 from 5-5:30pm at the KJHS cafeteria with physical gold slip in hand. Tryouts for baseball will begin Monday, July 31 from 8-10:30 a.m. for 8th grade and
11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. for 6th & 7th grades at the KJHS baseball field. Additional tryout days are August 1st, 2nd, 3rdwith times to be announced. Please bring the following items labeled with name: glove, proper shoes, gray shirt with name on the back, hat, bat (optional) and water.We look forward to seeing you at try-outs!
Cross Country:Cross Country practice will begin on July 31st and will meet at the KJHS track. There are no try outs for cross country and all athletes participate in every regular season meet. Meets involve running 2 miles and practice involves running between 1-6 miles.More information regarding the parent meeting and practice times prior to the start of school will be posted on the KJHS Cross Country website (access via “Extra-curricular” tab on KJHS homepage) as it becomes available.
Athletic Participation
Each athlete must have the following forms turned into the main office prior to participation or tryouts. These forms will only have to be completed once a year.
1. Current sports physical (Physicals are good for 395 days from the date of the physical)
2. Copy of the birth certificate on file
3. Athletic Participation Packet (Available on line at the KJHS website)
4. Fees: $85 per sport/per student(due immediately after tryouts).
Coaches will not be collecting physical forms, birth certificates or athletic participation forms. When a student has a desire to try out for a sport, he/she should report to the main office to receive an athletic clearance slip. The slip, which indicates all forms have been properly submitted to the main office, must be handed to the coach before the athlete may participate or tryout for that sport. Check the KJHS website for available dates/times to obtain the gold clearance slip.
