Barnardo’s Request for Assistance – Guidance
Family Support Service
The Family Support Service seeks to reach out to children and young people aged 0-12 years and their parents/carers offering flexible support to enable them to build the skills and resources to deal with the challenges of everyday family life. Covering Ayr, Prestwick, Troon and outlying villages.
Support services available:
Intensive support – through weekly home visits to help with household routines, managing behaviour and school attendance etc.
Practical and emotional support for parents/carers – to help with income maximisation and benefits checks, financial support, support to attend appointments, individual support to address stress anxiety worries.
Specific work for dads – working either 1:1 with a Dad’s Development Worker or attending group work.
Therapeutic services – for children and for parents/carers
Parenting and support groups – to help parents/carers build self-confidence and parenting skills.
Individual work and group work for children – supporting children to help build self-confidence and social skills.

Stronger Connections
Stronger Connections offer a wide range of support services to empower children, young people aged 0-12 years and their parents/carers who are affected by parental substance misuse to build on their skills and learn from their experiences to make positive changes in their lives. Covering South Ayrshire wide.
Support services available:
Intensive support including practical and emotional support for parents/carers – to help with income maximisation and benefits checks, financial support, support to attend appointments, individual support to address stress anxiety worries.
1:1 support – for parents and children within the family home, local community or project.
Parenting and support groups – for parents/carers to build self-confidence and parenting skills.
Individual support and group work – support for children to help build self-confidence, self-esteem and social skills.
Therapeutic services for parents – group work for parents who are struggling with life’s ups and downs.

Attainment Challenge
Attainment Challenge offers a wide range of support services to families with children who attend Braehead Primary, Dalmilling Primary, Newton Primary and Ayr Academy.
Support services available:
Intensive support – to help with household routines, managing behaviour and school attendance etc.
Practical and emotional support for parents/carers – including income maximisation, benefits checks and debt advice.
Therapeutic services – for children and for parents/carers
Parenting and support groups – to help parents/carers build self-confidence and parenting skills.
Individual work and group work for children – supporting children to help build self-confidence and social skills.
