3rd Asian Silicon Symposium

October 18-19, 2010

Hangzhou, China

Invitation

The Asian Silicon Symposium (ASiS) held in Asian every two years presents the forum at which all aspects of silicon chemistry are discussed by scientists, researchers, academics, professionals and students working in the field of silicon chemistry. The 1st and 2nd ASiS were successfully held at the foot of Mt. Zao in Miyagi, Japan in 2007 and at Jeju, Korea in 2008.

The 3rd ASiS, whose main theme is “The Beauty and Mission of Organosilicon Chemistry in the 21 Century,” will be held at Hangzhou Huagang HNA Resort in Hangzhou, China on October 18-19, 2010. The aim of this conference is to bring together silicon chemistry practitioners to exchange the latest research results and technological developments in the field of silicon chemistry. Through this exchange, it is hoped that participants will gain better insights into the world of silicon chemistry. Come, join us, and meet old friends and make new acquaintances in the 3rd ASiS!

General Information

Hangzhou is one of the important tourist cities in China, famous for its natural beauty and historical and cultural heritages. As the capital of Zhejiang province, Hangzhou is the political, economic and cultural center of the province as well. Hangzhou is located in the Yangzi Delta area on the low reaches of Qiantang River in southeast China, with a distance of 180 kilometers to Shanghai. There are 6 districts, 2 counties and 5 county-level municipalities under the jurisdiction of Hangzhou. It covers a total area of 16596 square kilometers with a population of 6.08 million, including 1.69 million people in 683 square kilometers of city proper area.

Hangzhou is of subtropical monsoon climate with distinctive four seasons and has mild atmosphere and favorable geographical positions and natural conditions. Hangzhou in October is in the later summer and the average temperature is normally about 25 degrees Celsius. It is a little bit hot in daytime, but we recommend bringing a light jacket for chilly late evenings and early mornings.

Accommodation

Hangzhou Huagang HNA Resort will be used for all symposium activities such as the scientific program, banquet, meals, and accommodation.

A modern, deluxe business hotel with conference facility and holiday resort combined, the HNA Resort Huagang Hangzhou, run by the Hainan Airline Hotel Group Management, is situated in the Yang Gong Causeway Scenic Zone, a newly developed area after enlargement of the West Lake. It is close to the “Viewing Fish in a Flowering Harbour”, “Leifeng Pagoda Stands in the Sunset”, “Night Bell Sounds Around the South Screen Hill”, “Lotus Greets the Wind in a Winery Yard”, and “To Ask for Tea at the Dragon Well”, which are the most-visited historical interests around the Lake. The hotel itself is a scenic garden and its buildings are of the Chinese classical residential style that blends well into a harmonious landscape.

Function of Meeting & Conference: The hotel has a 450-square-meter multifunctional hall, including 10 small and medium-sized meeting rooms, which are fully equipped and suitable for academic exchange, high-level seminar, news conference, project justification meeting, product show, business talk, banquet as well as ceremonial activities.

Other Facilities: The hotel has 2 restaurants and 7 boxes. The Western restaurant called the Caesar Palace has 260 seats, serving typical western foods and dishes, including a cafeteria. The Chinese restaurant is named the Heavenly Fragrance Garden that has a capacity of 210 dining seats, plus the 7 boxes in which mainly the South-Yangtze tastes are served. Besides, there is the Brazilian barbecue outdoors at lawn venue where a warm and romantic scene would lead you into an ethnic atmosphere.

Standard room 380 RMB per night (Hotel reservation should be done though ASiS-3 Secretariat to get this lowest price negotiated).
