RECORD OF SESSIONS TUTORED IN EXCELLENT AND COACHED
FOR MEDIA PLAYER GROUPS AND FOR MIXED GROUPS CONTAINING FOUR MEDIA PLAYER STUDENTS
On the first day of tutoring if five students are present, choose two students to do independent reading. Enter ½ in their columns (because they will be tutored in Excellent and Coached for half the session) and 1 in the other three columns (because they will be tutored in Excellent and Coached the entire session). If only four students are present, enter 1 in each of their columns.
On the second day of tutoring, identify the two students who have been tutored the most and assign them to trade off on independent reading. For both students, add ½ to the number in the previous column and enter the total in today’s column. For the three students who will not read independently today, add 1 to the number in each of their previous columns and enter the total in today’s column. Repeat every day. When four or fewer students are present, no student will read independently during the tutoring session.
If there is a “tie” for the most or next most number of sessions, just pick the student(s) to do independent reading today from those tied.
If a new student joins the group, arbitrarily assign him a total to start with that reflects the average number of sessions accumulated by the other students.
If a student is absent today, carry his cumulative number forward from yesterday and put it in today’s slot with no change.
If you have a visitor from another group in your group, use your discretion in deciding whether he will read independently during the session.
If your student visits another group, find out from the tutor whether he read independently so you will know whether to add ½ or 1 to his cumulative total.
