COURSE OBJECTIVES

· To serve as resources and support for one another
· To prepare students for careers in the theatre field
· To provide an environment for students to collaborate and articulate
COURSE DESCRIPTION AND REQUIREMENTS
Collegium is a required course for all Educational Theatre undergraduates. Grading for the course is Pass/Fail.
Short Plays: The class will be divided into groups of 4-5 to create a short theatre piece based around pre-texts and genres determined by the class. There will be two class periods to create and rehearse these pieces.
Labs are opportunities for students to present work of their own for feedback from the class. This can be the chance to present work for another class, an outside project, a scene, a monologue, a new play, a lesson you are working on, etc. There are three Lab days this semester, so everyone is not required to present. We will create a schedule throughout the course of the semester.
Short Plays 2.0: In new groups, we will create a new batch of short plays that are slightly more complex than the first time around. They will be based around pre-texts and genres determined by the class. There will be three class periods to create and rehearse these pieces.
More than one unexcused absence may result in a failing grade.
