Dan is one of Australia’s leading sustainability practitioners with more than 15 years of experience advising organisations across Australia, Asia, Europe and the USA. He established Deloitte’s sustainability division in Australia and managed their Global Centre for Excellence for Environmental and Sustainability Services in Denmark. He is the former head of environmental affairs at Toyota Australia, and has advised numerous companies including Novo Nordisk, Norsk Hydro, Amcor, Santos, Europcar, BHP Biliton, Spotless, ANZ, George Weston Foods and 7 Eleven. Dan is a sought after speaker who has presented at over 100 worldwide conferences and events.
David Rylah- Energy Advice
David leads Energy Advice’s Structured Solutions and Carbon Markets Team, and provides leadership for major Australian corporations in the development of their carbon market strategies, and energy efficiency and compliance reporting programs. He has over 25 years of experience trading and advising across a range of financial and energy markets working in sterling money markets, UK and Australian government bonds, interest rate swaps, electricity (National Electricity Market-NEM and South West Interconnected System-SWIS), natural gas, renewable energy and petroleum products. David has served on a number of industry committees that established the current framework for wholesale electricity derivatives trading in the NEM.
Kate Phillips- Baker McKenzie
Kate is a Senior Associate in the Baker & McKenzie Environment Markets Group, acting on behalf of a number of international and Australian clients predominantly in the provision of carbon markets advice. Baker & McKenzie put together ‘Australia’s Clean Energy Legislative Package- A Guide for Business’ for the Carbon Market Institute in November 2011. Kate has experience in various areas of sustainability and climate change including advising on obligations under various mandatory and voluntary emissions trading markets, carbon sinks, biofuels, waste management, green leasing and Carbon Farming Initiatives transactions. Prior to joining Baker & McKenzie in 2006, Kate was Corporate Counsel at CO2 Australia Limited, a provider of dedicated carbon sinks.
Jon Fettes- Genesis Now
Jon is a Senior Engineer at Genesis Now, a consultancy which for over 20 years has focussed onidentification and implementation of IndustrialEnergy Efficiency solutions. He is relatively new to this field, having transitioned out of Automotive Product Development in 2008 seeking a sustainable energy career.Since then he hasdistance-learned at BTH University, Sweden and graduated from a Master’sDegree in Sustainable Energy at RMIT. While studying he worked in household energy efficiency before joining Genesis Now. In 2011 Jon’s clients spent $12M on energy, equivalent to running 40,000 cars.Jondeveloped plans to reduce that by 25% without subsidy, with an average R.O.I. of over 50%.
