Machine data directly to the service engineer via the cloud - joint project GEA - ifm.
Essen/Oelde, May 2015 – Industry 4.0 – The new trend in manufacturing - the vision of intelligent worldwide networking and communication in manufacturing industry. In a joint project of the GEA group, the ifm group and their partner SAP Germany this vision will become a reality.
The contract between GEA and the Board Chairman of the ifm group, Mr Michael Marhofer, regarding this future-oriented project was signed at the GEA location in Oelde on 12 May 2015.
Under the Industry 4.0 project predictive maintenance and condition monitoring of machines are to be become even more efficient. Machine data and sensor values from GEA separators and decanters are directly transmitted to the SAP HANA Cloud Platform using the "IoT adapter - Line Recorder Agent Embedded 1.0" from ifm. And so the data is also available to GEA for analysis in the PDMS tool from SAP.
Here the data can be combined and evaluated with business processes from the SAP Business Suites and the solutions of SAP Predictive Maintenance.
Thus early warning mechanisms, recording and indication of critical moments, any machine problems can be identified in time. Processes for service organisation can be managed and called up worldwide. For GEA and their customers this means creating added values using cloud-based approaches for servicing machines and plant. Besides an improvement of the service organisation this leads to big advantages for customers regarding machine efficiency and performance. This also means cost reduction on both sides.
"Innovation and the search for ideal service solutions to the satisfaction of our customers are our motivation. We are working on advanced and individual customer solutions to improve our market position. This vision will be implemented together with the ifm solution and the SAP solutions," said Steffen Bersch (President of the Business Unit Mechanical Separation - GEA Mechanical Equipment) regarding this project. / Contact
