Re: Oxford University Press Translation Luncheon Talk—26 April 2003

Please be informed that a Hong Kong Translation Society luncheon talk, one in a series co-sponsored by the Oxford University Press, will be held at the World Trade Center Club, 38F World Trade Center, 280 Gloucester Road, Causeway Bay, Hong Kong, on 26 April 2003 (Saturday) at 12:15 p.m. The Society is honored to have The Hon. Sir Ti Liang YANG speak on "My Experience in Translating Classical Chinese Literary Works" in Putonghua. Members are cordially invited to attend. The charge is only HK$100 for the famous buffet lunch of the World Trade Center Club ($145 for non-members).

The Hon. Sir Ti Liang YANG, born 30 June 1929. Honours: Knighted in 1988; Order Chivalry, First Class, SPMB of Negara BruneI Darussalam, 1990, awarded the Grand Bauhinia Medal in 1999; Hon. LLD Chinese University of Hong Kong, 1984 and Hong Kong Polytechnic, 1992; Hon. DLitt Hong Kong University, 1991. Career: Member of the Executive Council, HKSAR 1997-2002; Chief Justice of Hong Kong 1988-1996; Lord President of the Court of Appeal of Negara Brunei Darussalam 1988-92; Magistrate, Hong Kong, 1956; Senior Magistrate, 1963; Rockfeller Fellow, London University 1963-64; District Judge, District Court, 1968; Judge of the High Court, Hong Kong, 1975; Justice of Appeal, Hong Kong, 1980. Publications: Translator of General Yue Fei, The Peach Blossom Fan, and Officialdom Unmasked.
