  1. Attend each day of PD (in its entirety) August 4-15, 2014 and two weeks in the summer of 2015;
  2. Implement all module activities in the classroom during the 2014-15 and 2015-16 academic years;
  3. Receive Stevens’ staff and their representatives into my classroom to observe implementation; and
  4. Provide feedback on the module and classroom implementation.

Open Response Questions

Please answer both of the following questions to help us with the selection process. We are looking for teachers who are a good fit with the objectives of the project, including understanding classroom dynamics, implementation of piloted curriculum and who will also grow from the experience.

  1. Classroom Instruction: Select aBiology,Engineering, or Technology topic or concept. Provide a brief description of this topic, how you teach this in your classroom, how you connect it with other units, andwhy the topic may be difficult for students to learn. (200-250 words)
  1. Impact of Reflection on Curriculum Development: Provide a detailed example of how you have adapted a curriculum topic over the course of a few years. Contrast the lesson as it was first taught and how it evolved. Explain the changes you made and your rationale for making those changes. (200-250 words)

Curriculum infusion documentation (reflective log) and video-taping.
This will involve teaching a biology module with the engineering infusion to your students. The module requires approximately 4 weeks of instruction and includes content on the carbon cycle, interrelationship among organisms, and human impact on ecosystems. / On-going
During the 2014-2015 school year / $500
One-on-one meeting with CIESE staff during the teaching of the module and a site visit from a member of the program’s evaluation team. / To be determined
Participate in a follow up two-week summer workshop at Stevens Institute of Technology / Summer 2015 / $1,000
