Adele holding this information that her father provided her with, helps keep her humane and brings her to be the best version of herself by isolating everything and still holding onto old memories and good habits and not letting everything that has happened lately got to her. This is a key point because throughout the whole book Adele is constantly faced with such extreme barriers to over pass and conquer; Adele pulls through in the end by overcoming all barriers she is faced with while still managing to hold herself together and not let the people and environment get the best of her.
