Officer Reports

President's Report - Welcome to everyone and mention the resignation ofTammie McElroy.

Secretary's Communication - Thank you notes were received from several State Leadership Conference Delegates. Advisor's Report - Matthew led an experiment promoting the 2008 National Youth Science Day to be held On 10/8/08.

Committee Reports

All-Stars - Report was given on the plans being made for the 10/4/08 Awards BBQ. Set up will be held at The CSUC Farm Pavilion Friday evening at 5:00 p.m. Nord-Cana & Oroville-Foothill are assisting with setup For this event. All Stars will be doing an Officer Training Workshop. It will be held on 10/27 from 6:30-8 pm Location TBA.

Livestock Committee Dave Scheuermann reported that they have met and are planning a Livestock Symposium on January 24, 2009 from about 9 a.m.-12 p.m. to replace Livestock Education Days. Matthew indicated that he will post a Butte County Breeder's List that youth may opt to use when making their livestock purchases.

Old Business

Scholarship Auctions - Alison Jones said that there are 7 confirmed baskets for the Awards BBQ. Unconfirmed were Shasta, DPVE, DPVW and Oroville-Foothill. All 4 clubs confirmed right away and that brought the total to 11 baskets. Any Silent Auction items should be brought on Saturday prior to the event beginning. Possible Silent Auction items may be held in the trailer. Jan Holman will get with Nick to see if anything can used. Bob Donohoe will act as our auctioneer at the Awards BBQ.

SLC Report - Kylie Deal thanked the 4-H Council for the money that was donated for SLC and gave a report on the activities. 31 people attended from Butte County including 4 chaperones. She mentioned a new community service called Million Trees Project which was organized by a 4-H Club in San Mateo County. They are looking for clubs and groups to partner with them.

New Business

National4-H Week - All paperwork must be filed by 10/3/08 in the 4-H Office. Nick will put guidelines for judging online.

Butte County 2008-09 Proposed Budget - Jan Holman suggested changes to category #501 to increase the funding for Asilomar to allow 4 individuals to attend. The individuals attending are Bill Anderson, Laurinda Corron, Leslie Deal and Kirsten Peters. After some discussion, Jan Holman made the motion to accept the proposed budget. Kylie Deal seconded it and the motion carried.

Committee Club Chairs Rotation - Matthew Portillo explained that the proposal was instead of individuals chairing county events, clubs would take leadership of various county events. Deanna Kossow made the point that smaller clubs may not have resources available to put on county events and everyone agreed that should be taken into consideration and help should be given where needed. Valerie Sutton made the motion to accept the program with a two year implementation period. During the implementation period clubs may choose which event they would like to chair, but at the end of the second year, there will be no more changes and the rotation will begin at that point giving every club the opportunity to chair every event. Tom Santos seconded the motion and the proposal passed. Clubs were encouraged to discuss which events they would like to take for the coming year and contact Nick to let him know. Jan Holman mentioned that resource books for each county event should go to the office first so that copies can be made in the event that binders are misplaced.

Nominations for Vice-President - Dave Scheuermann nominated Deanna Kossow as Vice-President. She accepted. The motion was seconded by Kirsten Peters. Deanna Kossow will begin serving immediately as Leader's Council Vice President.

Bill Anderson reminded everyone that the next Leader's Council meeting will be held October 23, 2008 at 7:00p.m. in the Durham High School Library. Dave Scheuermann moved to adjourn the meeting and Matt Jones seconded. Meeting adjourned @ 8:45 p.m. Respectfully submitted,
