Objectives

Wired is a registered charity that provides a range of services to disadvantaged people and carers within Wirral, Liverpool, Warrington and Oldham.

The objective of the Carer Connector is to support carers in Wirral so they feel supported in their caring role, feel valued and recognised for their contribution. This will be achieved using an Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) approach working in partnership with other organisations.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • To work with the other Carer Connectors to ensure provision for carers is provided in each of the 4 Wirral Constituencies
  • To organise training sessions for carers that provide practical support e.g. dementia awareness, maximising income. These may be delivered by other organisations, Wired staff and/or volunteers as appropriate
  • To organise training sessions for Health and Social Care professionals and employers in carer awareness including becoming a carer-friendly employer
  • To support the provision and development of befriending and peer support opportunities for carers e.g. by working with GP practises to have drop-in sessions, developing art activities etc
  • To support events and activities that increase awareness of carers including Carers Week, Carers Rights Days especially in Super output areas ofSeacome, Bidston, Birkenhead and Tranmere
  • To support carers to improve their health and well-being through referrals to the Livewell programme
  • To support carers into volunteering and employment through practical support on e.g. CV writing, job search and supporting carers to volunteer in all activities provided and events
  • To support volunteers in their role in the provision
  • To work with carers to establish their needs and respond to these accordingly through developing activities e.g. drop-ins for people in a particular area or with a specific caring role
  • To gather and collate monitoring and feedback information for the purpose of regular statistical and qualitative reporting, with input from volunteer connectors, clients and staff for the activities provided
  • To work as part of the ACE group, sharing knowledge and promoting partnership working when the opportunity arises

General

  • Maintain client confidentiality and personal information, including sensitive data in line with the Data Protection Act 2010.
  • To ensure all records, information and processes are maintained in accordance with agreed procedures, ensuring compliance with any quality marks Wired may subscribe to.
  • To integrate feedback received from colleagues, clients and from other internal and external clients and agencies, into a continuous review process, to ensure that the service meets the needs of all users, and best practice is implemented
  • To fully understand Safeguarding legislation in relation to the services delivered and use as appropriate
  • Adhere to Wired policies and procedures including the Code of Conduct to ensure a professional, approach to clients, volunteers, colleagues and other professionals at all times
  • Utilise effective time management techniques to ensure tasks are prioritised, and agreed deadlines are met
  • Have a positive attitude towards Personal Development to meet identified individual and business needs, and attend all relevant staff training and meetings
  • Any other duty that may be required, commensurate with job title and salary (Wired’s services are continually changing – flexibility and adaptability is essential).
