4 / Develop and execute experimental development projects that will develop and then transfer to SMEs knowledge regarding industrial metrology and process capability best practice and their integration with design and manufacturing processes. The experimental development projects will be under the following broad themes;
·  Industrial metrology and process capability enhancement technologies and best practice that is based on a coherent understanding and calculation of process capability and the measurement capability. These projects will have the close participation of NPL and Airbus in relation to large volume processes and assembly. with appropriate input from Renishaw and other metrology vendors.
·  Machine tool metrology including modern calibration and verification that they incorporate real time measurement feedback. These projects will have the active participation of Renishaw, IBS and Rolls-Royce.
5 / Visit SMEs to provide specific advice to SME’s regarding the implementation of metrology to their organisation.
6 / Deliver industrial metrology on the job training on site for SMEs.

·  Interfacing with SMEs and large companies and maintaining an excellent set of commercial and technical relationships
·  Defining and executing a variety of projects as may be required by industry, from dissemination events, to demonstrations and experimental development projects
·  Provision of reports for each project activity and maintaining an auditable trail of activities
·  Onward reporting of training requirements for referral
·  Representation of LIMA BTC at relevant R&D project meetings
Specific Responsibilities:
“Generic industrial metrology and process capability technologies and best practice” / “Verification/calibration of machine tools and other production equipment” / “Measurement-assisted manufacturing processes that are superior in terms of accuracy and repeatability”
Primary focus and responsibility / Secondary engagement / Secondary responsibility
You will from time to time be required to undertake other duties of a similar nature as reasonably required by your line manager.
