Students will have an option to check out one as an additional resource in tutoring or review.
NC FINAL EXAM
ALL STUDENTS will take the Math III NC Final Exam. There are no exam exemptions.
GRADING SCALE: / GRADE DISTRIBUTION
This year we will use a 10 point scale to determine student’s letter grade. The scale is based on the percentage of points earned on a given assignment.
A90 – 100
B 80 – 89
C 70 – 79
D 60 – 69

Quizzes: 25%
Homework and Classwork: 15%
Final Course Grade Calculation Distribution:
First Quarter: 40%
Second Quarter: 40%

TUTORING SCHEDULE:Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 8:15 am – 8:45 am
Check the weekly tutoring board in class or on the class website for any additional sessions or cancellations during that specific week. Sessions ARE an opportunity for students to ask questions, study, complete homework, or make up work. Sessions ARE NOT to re-teach an ENTIRE lesson.
TESTS AND QUIZZES:
Students should expect to have a quiz or test each week, which will be announced in advance. Mr. Smith also reserves the right to give students POP QUIZZES on at any time. All students are expected to complete an assignment during the time allowed, but arrangements will be made for students who need extended time.
HOMEWORK: LATE WORKIS NOT ACCEPTED WITHOUT PRIOR APPROVAL!!
Students should expect daily homework assignments. Homework is an opportunity for students to immediately practice their understanding of new material. Homework grading will be based on completion, and at times will also be checked for accuracy. Students should always be prepared to present homework solutions.
MAKE UP WORK:IT IS THE STUDENT’S RESPONSIBILITY TO FOLLOW UP WHEN ABSENT!
Students are responsible to get notes from classmates or to schedule to meet with outside of class to review. Make up homework deadline is 1 day after returning to class. Make up quiz or test deadline is 5 days and a zero score will be given if not completed during that time period. Pop quizzes CANNOT be made up!
** The sooner work is made up the less behind you will be as we continue with new topics.**
CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS
- Be RESPECTFUL to others and their belongings in a way others would be proud of you.
- Be PREPARED for class with DAILY MATERIALSandHOMEWORK.
- Be PUNCTUAL and in your assigned seat when the class bell rings.
- Be a POSITIVE and ACTIVE PARTICIPANT in class.
- Talking should be limited to the material and at an appropriate time.
- Be RESPONSIBLE for your own work and actions.
- Take notes in class, study at home, and turn in all assignments.
- Keep track of all handouts and papers given to you.
- Students will follow classroom policies and procedures. (See Below)
- Policies and Procedures hold you accountable for your actions and effort in the classroom.
- Food and Drink are allowed in class if you are responsible to clean up after yourself.
- All drinks MUST have a top.
- NO SHARING ITEMS AND NO SUNFLOWER SEEDS!!!
- All Mount Tabor school rules apply in the classroom.
Discipline Consequences
Consequences for inappropriate behavior may include student warnings, seat reassignment, being sent out of class, parent contact, detention, and/or administrative action (Saturday School, Lunch Detention, ISS, OSS, or Expulsion). Please note that consequences will vary based on the severity of the action and students’ needs. Consequences for being tardy are located in the student handbookParents and Guardians should expect to receive a phone call or email contact for instances in which your student has received discipline.
CLASSROOM POLICIES and PROCEDURES
Students will be held accountable for the following...
#1: ELECTRONICS - Cell phones and other devices will be taken for the day if they are used without permission, interrupt learning, or interrupt instruction.
- In an emergency, ask Mr. Smith permission to use your cell phone or go to the office.
- At times, a cell phone may be used as a calculator but isn’t a substitute for a graphing calculator.
#2: HALL PASSES - Students will NOT use a hall pass the FIRST and LAST 5 minutes of class.
- Students need to fill out the date, time, room, and destination in student handbook for Mr. Smith to sign.
- Mr. Smith reserves the right to not allow a hall pass.
#3: PENCIL EXCHANGE - If you need to borrow a PENCIL for the class period, then you must exchange an item of your own (mp3, cell phone, etc).
Your item will be returned when you have returned Mr. Smith’s pencil at the end of the period.
#4: CALCULATOR SIGN OUT – Students who do not have a personal calculator may use one of Mr. Smith’s calculator for the period, but those are given on a first come first serve basis and numbers are limited. Please invest in purchasing a personal calculator or loaning one from the Media Center.
#5: TEST AND QUIZ
1) Students who miss a test or quiz must make it up within 5 school days.
2) Students who do not finish within the allotted time have 5 school days to return and complete it.
After those 5 days, student’s work will be scored including blank problems.
#6: TARDY POLICY - Mr. Smith will document both unexcused and excused tardies on Powerschool. Excused Tardies require a note from the attendance office, guidance, administration, or a faculty member. Unexcused tardies are subject to discipline based on your total number in a quarter.
WHAT IS A TARDY? You are TARDY when the bell has finished ringing and you have not entered the classroom.
