Dress Code Guidelines

Willo-Hill Christian School’s Dress Code Guidelines are to be observed by all students. Our goal is to present a good testimony before others and to honor the Lord Jesus Christ through a modest appearance. Therefore clean, neat, properly fitting garments are required at all times. Willo-Hill Christian School reserves the right to require students to conform to the dress code. Please read through these guidelines thoroughly. If you are unsure of any items, please contact the office for approval before having your child wear it to school.

NOTE: Students in K3 and K4 are not required to be in uniform. Dress should be neat, clean and modest. However, those students are to adhere to the following guidelines: No tank tops or flip-flops/sandals. Socks must always be worn. Girls are to wear shorts under dresses/skirts.

For the Boys:

Hair is to be clean and neat in appearance with a conservative cut, above the collar and eyebrows; ears are to be mostly visible. Jewelry is not permitted, except for watches.

For the Girls:

For modesty purposes, undergarments must be worn as needed. Leggings/tights or shorts worn under jumpers, skirts, skorts, and scooters are acceptable and encouraged. Jumpers, skirts, skorts, and scooters must be at knee length or minimum 2 inches above the knee when standing, and must have the appearance of a skirt all the way around. Hair must be clean and neat in appearance; only natural colors of hair are permitted. Minimal jewelry is acceptable (no dangling earrings).

·  WHCS has a UNIFORM CLOSET, located in the Boys Locker Room. It is available to all our Willo-Hill families. Feel free to take from the closet throughout the year. We appreciate the return of well-cared for and laundered uniforms for others to use.

Dress Code for Gym:

Students in K3 and K4 wear their regular casual clothes and change shoes as needed.

Students in Kindergarten stay in their uniform and change shoes as needed.

Students in 1st through 6th Grades are required to change into gym clothes:

·  Shorts ~ appropriate length, no shorter than 5” above the knee; loose fit; no print on backside

·  T-shirts ~ appropriate logos

·  Tennis shoes ~ non-marking soles

Dress Down Day Guidelines:

At various times throughout the school year students will be permitted to dress down (wear casual clothing). These special days may be for Field Trips, Patriot Pride Days*, or for earned privileges. Parents will be informed of these days. Shirts with appropriate logos are acceptable. No tank tops, crop tops, and tops made of mesh/sheer materials. Jeans are acceptable. No sweatpants, yoga and work-out pants. Should a student come to school with unacceptable clothing, the parent will be contacted and asked to bring in a change of clothes.

* When Patriot Pride Days are held, students who bring in $1.00 and are permitted to wear red, white and blue colors or their WHCS Spirit Wear (which is sold at the beginning of each school year).

Dress Up Day Guidelines:

For certain events students will be required to dress up. Parents will be informed of these days in advance. Boys are to wear dress shoes, dress pants, and dress shirts and ties. Girls are to wear skirts and blouses or dresses. Skirts and dresses are to be knee length or minimum 2 inches above the knee when standing, and be of modest fit. Shoes heels are to be ½ an inch or less.

Violations of Dress Code Guideline:

1st Violation: Issue will be addressed with the student. A copy of the “Dress Code Guidelines” will be sent home to the parent indicating the violation on a “Uniform Notice” form.

2nd Violation: Issue will be addressed with the student. A “Uniform Notice” will be sent home to the parent. The form must be signed by the parent and returned to the school office.

3rd Violation: Issue will be addressed with the student, as well as the student will lose one day of recess. A “Uniform Notice” will be sent home to the parent. The form must be signed by the parent and returned to the school office.

Extreme Violations or Repeat Offenses: Student will need to call their parent to bring in a change of clothes or may be sent home. Further discipline actions may include additional days of lost recess and/or after school detention. Each situation will be handled individually.
