James Honeyman believes his MK Dons Ladies are under no illusions about how difficult their game against Actonians Ladies will be this Sunday.

The Dons travel to Berkeley Fields this Sunday, in order to play Actonians Ladies in the South East Division 1 – kick-off 2pm.

The sides have already met twice this season, with the Dons being successful on both occasions. In both games the Dons have put four past Actonians Ladies, winning 4-0 in the FA Cup tie, and just before that 4-1 when the sides met at Willen Road in the league.

Honeyman said: “ Actonians are a very strong side and the first time we played them, we were very lucky to come away with the victory.

“So we are under no illusions about how tough this game will be, but if we execute our game plan, we know we can win.”

The first game they played this season, the 4-1 victory at Willen Road, saw Heather McDonnell grab a brace, with Charley Clarke and Sophie Watson also getting on the scoresheet. Then Hannah Barrett starred in the second encounter, bagging herself an impressive hat-trick, with defender Kara Howes also managing to grab a goal to remember.

The Dons have had a break from playing, having had their game against Brackley Town Ladies postponed last weekend. However, prior to this the Dons were on a three game winning streak, scoring 17 goals in the process.

Honeyman, speaking about last week’s break said: “ After a fairly hectic schedule, we felt like we were due a week off from playing.

“We still came in and trained but it was nice to rest the legs a little.”

Since losing to the Dons early in October, Actonians Ladies have a achieved a 100% winning record. They have beaten Queens Park Rangers Ladies twice as well as earning victory against Lowestoft Town Ladies and emphatically beating Ipswich Town Ladies 6-0.

Honeyman has nearly a full strength squad available to him for Sunday’s trip to Berkeley Fields, bar Sophie Watson, who the Dons are wishing a speedy recovery after reconstruction surgery to her ACL.

Actonians Ladies know that a win against the Dons would see them leapfrog the Dons and go into third place. The Dons can move up to 2nd, with victory but other results have to go their way as well.
