Project overview

You are an intern with a local software startup company. Recently, you and your co-workers celebrated the launch of your company’s EasyGo product at the Café Corner. Despite its reputation, the food and service at the Café Corner did not meet your expectations. You’ve been asked to highlight your company’s dissatisfaction with the event in a letter to the Café Corner. You also need to create a suggested menu for the Café Corner that you think would be more appealing.

Instructions

  1. Open the file CMPTR_Word2010_Ch10_PI1a_FirstLastName_1.docx and save the file as CMPTR_Word2010_Ch10_PI1a_FirstLastName_2.docxbefore moving on to the next step. Verify that your name appears in the footer at the bottom of both documents. If it does not, please download a new copy of the start file from the SAM Web site. (Note: Do not edit the footer at the bottom of the document.)
  1. At the beginning of the blank Page 1, type the date March 10, 2014 (Hint: you can use AutoComplete for March.)

Press the Enter key and then remove the hyperlink formatting from the email address.

  1. Type Rena Walker as the signature line.
  1. Apply italic formatting to EasyGo.
  1. Select the first three lines of the inside address (not the date) andremove the paragraph spacing after each line (e.g.,change the Spacing After value to 0 pt). Do not change theSpacing After value for the fourth line of the inside address (which should still have theSpacing After value of 10 pt).

Move to the second page of the document (which contains an unformatted menu from the Café Corner) to complete steps 9 – 19.

  1. In the third line (which is “Prix Fixe Meal”), delete the e from Fixe and use the Symbol button to insert é (which is "Latin Small Letter E With Acute", character code 00E9, so the word is Fixé.
  1. Select all the text in the menu document (starting with the line that begins “CaféCorner” and ending at the line “Make your reservation today!”), change the font to Georgia, and change the font size to 14 points. Change the font size of the text in the second line (“Enjoy the tastes…”) to 12 points.
  1. Select the firstline of the menu document (“Café Corner”) and apply bold, increase the font size to 20 points, and change the font color to Red, Accent 2. Copy the formatting of the first line to the last line (“Make Your Reservation Today!”)
  1. Center align the first two lines (“Café Corner” and “Enjoy the tastes…”) and the last line (“Make your reservation today!”).
  1. In the third line (“Prix Fixé Meal”), add a Right Tab stop at the 6.5-inch mark. Insert a tab character after Prix Fixé Meal, and then type $35.00.
  1. Increase the Spacing Before and Spacing After the third line (“Prix Fixé Meal…”) to 24 points.
  1. Select all the text in the following three lines: line five (“Appetizer…”), line nine (“Entrée…”),and line14(“Dessert…”).Format these linesas bold, and then format them as a numbered list using Arabic numerals followed by a period (i.e., 1., 2., 3.). Decrease the indent so they are aligned at the left margin (i.e., the left indentation should be 0”).
  1. Format the following text as bulleted lists using the right pointing arrowhead () in the Bullet Library.

a)The three lines under Appetizer (“Figs with Honey-Orange…”, “Grilled Pancetta-Wrapped…”, “Cucumber, Radish, and Tomato…”);

b)The four lines under Entrée (“Linguine with Roasted…”, “Grilled Scallops with…”, “Pressed Chicken with…”, “Grilled Skirt Steaks…”);

c)The three lines under Dessert(“Cinnamon Plum Fool”, “Grilled peaches with…”, “Chocolate Truffle Cake”).

  1. For the three bulleted lists that you just created, increase the indent so that the bullet character is at the .5-inch mark on the ruler (i.e., the left indentation of 0.5”).
  1. Add a custom border to the top and bottom of the paragraph containing Prix Fixé Meal. Use the Borders and Shading dialog box to give the Custom border the following settings for the Top Border and Bottom Border: Use the fifth style option (a long line followed by a short line), the Red, Accent 2 color; and a width of 3 points.
  1. Increase the spacing above for the last line (“Make your reservation today!”) to 42 points(i.e., change the Spacing Before value to 42 pt).
