The Corliss News
Principal Message June 2016
Goodbyes are sometimes sad and joyful. I will miss staff, students, and parents over the summer. I wish you a wonderful summer. I encourage our students to continue being more awesome by being kind, respectful, helpful, caring, inclusive and trying your best. I hope you try something new and learn something new. I am a strong believer that our students have the ability to change the world. It is by guiding them to be critical thinkers and being more awesome that they can solve problems big and small. They can change the world and make it a better place. Encourage them to see different points of view.
I hope all of you have the opportunity to spend some time outside and enjoy the great outdoors. Students this year had an opportunity to go on a trip to Humber Arboretum, which is just over the highway at Humber College. They did a variety of outdooractivities and learned more about our environment. Take them outside to parks and explore our natural world, there is so much to see and experience.
This week we have our Senior Kindergarten Graduation and our Grade 5 graduation. Our grade 5 students have become true leaders at Corliss and we look forward to hearing about all the wonderful things they will continue to do. We are also having our end of year assembly on Wednesday, you are welcome to attend. We have had a school wide play day and a Kindergarten play day recently. Our kids loved it!.
We have a few staff that will be leaving Corliss and moving on to try new things. Ms. Sabec one of our wonderful Kindergarten teachers is leaving, Ms. Aygemang our amazing Teaching Assistant who works with all our students including our special needs students and Ms. Wright who was a great BTA here for a number of years. We wish a fond farewell and good luck to them all. I would like to welcome Ms. Zwolinski our new Kindergarten teacher, she will be the teacher for our K1 class next year. As well Ms. Gill is our new teaching assistant and Ms. Slade is our new BTA. I hope you will join me in welcoming them all to our Corliss family.
Have a wonderful summer and we look forward to welcoming you back to school on September 6, 2016.
Mrs. S. Eckel
