Silver Trade Card – Carpet Stream

This application form is for flooring installers who specialise in laying CARPET floor coverings. If you wish to apply for a Trade Card in one of the other streams – Resilient, Timber or Sanding Finishing– you should use the application form for that stream.

The form includes a self-assessment checklist that allows you to check your eligibility for theSilver Trade Card. If you believe you meet the criteria, please send this form to the Newfurn Training Academy. Once the form has been processed, we will get back to you with the next step in the assessment procedure. To be eligible for the Silver Trade Card, you must be able to tick all three boxes below. You can tick these boxes electronically by clicking on them or tapping them.

Current competence

‘Current competence’ means that your knowledge and skills are up-to-date, and you are able to provide us with recent evidence. We will get back to you with the evidence requirements once your application has been processed. Types of evidence we will be asking for include: letters of support (from employers and/or clients), course certificates, accreditations, job sheets or contracts, on-site photos or videos of you undertaking jobs, corporate information, promotional material, personal resume, etc.

Units from the MSF30813 Certificate III in Flooring Technology

When you qualify for a Silver Trade Card, you will also be eligible to receive the trade qualification for flooring installers – MSF30813 Certificate III in Flooring Technology. The qualification requires you to be assessed as ‘competent’ in 25 units of competency, comprising 11 Core units and 14 Elective units.

Although there are many Elective units to choose from in the overall qualification, to satisfy the requirements for the Silver Trade Card – Carpet Stream, you must demonstrate your competence in:

  • at least 12 of the 14 units listed in the ‘Elective units’table below
  • 2 more units, selected either from the ‘Elective units’ table, or the ‘Substitute units’ table underneath.

Note that there will be an opportunity to add additional units later, when you renew your Silver Trade Card or upgrade it to the Gold Trade Card.

MSFFL3007 Install commercial carpet floor coverings
  • Installing commercial grade carpet to multiple connecting rooms, large commercial areas and multi-storey buildings

MSFFL3008 Install patterned carpet floor coverings
  • Installing woven and tufted carpet containing geometric and decorative patterns using adhesive-bonded and carpet gripper systems
