RE: Response to 2016 Accountability Report of the TEC Connections Academy Virtual School

Date: May 9, 2016

On behalf of TEC Connections Academy, I wish to thank the members of the Accountability Review Team as well as provide insight into the section noted within “Organizational Viability: Capacity – School Leadership.” As noted in the report, since the Team’s visit, TECCA has made substantial efforts to expand the School Leadership Team. In the Spring of 2016, TEC Connections Academy hired an Assistant Principal (serving the K-8 Grades); an Interim Director of Special Education (serving Grades K-12 until June 30, 2016); and a permanent K-12 Director of Special Education who assumes this leadership role on July 1, 2016. Additionally, the Career Ladder program is being expanded for the 2016-17 School Year to allow additional “Master Teachers” to join the Leadership Team and bring additional grade-specific expertise to organizational and operational dynamics.

As TEC Connections Academy is nearing the end of our second school year, we are proud of our growth, accomplishments, and the ways in which we continually assess strategies to improve the ongoing diverse needs of our students. I reiterate my thanks to the Accountability Review Team for their thorough review of TEC Connections Academy in our second year, and appreciate the partnership that exists between TECCA, DESE, Connections Education, and most importantly, the students and families of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
