CODE OF CONDUCT
ALL PARTICIPANTS OF
THE MILFORD BASEBALL ASSOCIATION
ACCEPT THE FOLLOWING CODES OF CONDUCT:
Players & Coaches attest that:
-Participants are expected to comply with the intent and spirit of the game and its rules.
-Improper use or deliberate damage to equipment or facilities by any participant of the league will not be tolerated. The league spends a lot of money each year for equipment. Misusing or throwing of equipment will result in ejection from the game.
-Participants shall refrain from any actions that may arouse unsportsmanlike behavior among umpires, spectators, coaches, players or themselves.
-Cursing, obscene language or gestures, malicious or personal remarks made by a participant will not be tolerated. Violators will be ejected from the game.
-Physical altercations will not be tolerated, nor will any attempt to intentionally injure any player, official, or participant in any league activity. Violation of this code will be an immediate ejection from the game.
Coaches further attest that:
-It is the duty of any and all coaches to be in control of their players at all times. Failure to abide by this may result in an ejection.
-Coaches should teach their players to respect the dignity of the game, officials, opponents, and the institutions that they respect.
-Coaches will confine their discussion with the game officials to the interpretations of the rules and not challenge umpire’s judgment calls.
-No SMOKING or chewing tobacco is allowed during games or practices. Violation of this code shall be a board warning and subsequent violations may be game suspensions.
-No alcohol or illegal drugs will be allowed during games or practices. Anyone violating this rule will be immediately dismissed from the league by the board of directors.
-Any coach, umpire, or league official who in their official capacity appears under the influence of any substance, shall be automatically suspended from their position and must appear before the board.
-Assistant coaches or other member of the coaching staff will also be subject to the above penalties. If an assistant coach is in violation of any of the above mentioned Code of Conduct”, they will receive the same discipline as above, and the head coach will receive an additional one game suspension. For a second offense by any assistant coach or other member of the coaching staff, they will be subject to the above penalties and the head coach will receive an additional two game suspension. For a third offense, the head coach will receive an additional one year suspension.
Any player or coach ejected during the course of a game who refuses to leave the field of play shall be further warned that his failure to leave the playing field will cause his team to forfeit the game.
In the event a spectator or spectators become unruly and refuse an umpire’s plea to either leave the playing field, the stands or the ball park, the game can be suspended. At that point, either the fan is removed by the police if necessary, or the game remains suspended and a report made to the Division director.
THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS SHALL OVERSEE ANY AND ALL MATTERS REGARDING THE CODES OF CONDUCT FOR DIRECTORS, COACHES, UMPIRES, AND PLAYERS.
ANY MEMBER, PLAYER, OR UMPIRE WHO HAS A SERIOUS CONCERN OR COMPLAINT SHOULD FIRST BRING IT TO THE ATTENTION OF THE INDIVIDUAL COACH OR DIVISIONAL DIRECTOR OR THEIR RESPECTIVE LEAGUE. IF THERE IS A FAILURE TO RESOLVE IT AT THAT LEVEL, IT CAN FURTHER BE BROUGHT TO THE ATTENTION OF THE LEAGUES’ BOARD OF DIRECTORS.
