How to Make a Book Trailer with iMovie
- Open up iMovie application on computer. If it is not in menu tray, go to the magnifying glass in upper right corner and search for it.
- Open iMovie
- File-New Project (top one)
- Scroll down to Movie Trailers.
- Pick one. (You can click on each to watch the promos of what it will look like).
- Give it a name: Your Book Title
- Click create
- Once you picked your style a 3-tabbed notecard appears. You will need to type in all of the information you’d like to include in your movie trailer.
- Before proceeding with the movie, you will need to collect all of the graphics from online that you will use in your trailer. Save them in a folder that you can select from. Name your folder “Movie Trailer”.
Now that you have all of the graphics you need
- Click on Storyboard. You will be able to add text to the graphic and music, too! This is the place where you would highlight the major characters, problem/solution, setting, theme, etc…. Don’t give too much away!
- You may now notice that you are not able to add your pictures! It’s ok. There is a work aroundJ
- Go up to FILE and select Convert To Project. Now you will be able to add pictures! This is important. It really needs to be the last steps of your project. Everything else needs to be in place.
- After you pull in your pictures in the order of your liking, you can play around with the timing and look.
- On each picture is a little blue box with a white wheel. Here is the place you can change the timing; the color; Ken Burns effect. We will spend class time playing around with this.
- When you want to see how your film is flowing, click on the playback button.
- You can add music if you’d like.
- I will teach you how to upload to video to publish!
