Emerging and established artists in the South region are invited to submit works in any medium and on any subject.

There is no size limit.

About Quay Arts:

Quay Arts is situated within an ex-brewery warehouse on the banks of the River Medina and is the leading art centre on the Isle of Wight. Quay Arts supports the development and display of new work by contemporary visual artists. The West Gallery was designed by award-winning architect; Tony Fretton (Camden Arts Centre, Lisson Gallery, ArtSway) and presents work of national and international interest. It has hosted an eclectic exhibition of works belonging to Michael and Christine West (whom the gallery is named after due to their contribution to Quay Arts in the 1970s) which included works by Bridget Riley, Barbara Hepworth, Elisabeth Frink, Roy Lichtenstein, L.S. Lowry and Frank Auerbach. Contemporary solo exhibitors include, Rachel Whiteread, Andy Goldsworthy, Kurt Jackson, and more recently, Martin Creed.

OPEN 2015 Brief:

We are looking for works that have a contemporary feel, which reflect current themes and concerns, as well as works that are produced using traditional subjects and methods. The theme is completely ‘Open’, however, all works must have been made within the last 12 months.

Quay Arts aims to select work that reflects the diversity of drawing, painting, print and sculpture within current artistic practices and to produce an exhibition that can be enjoyed by audiences from the South of England and across the UK.

Prize:

One artist will be selected from Open 2015 exhibition for a solo exhibition at Quay Arts in The West Gallery in 2017. The solo exhibition will include curatorial input, mentoring, marketing and installation support.

Terms & Conditions:

Applications will not be considered if received after the closing date.

Entrants must be 18 years or over.

Works must have been made within the last 12 months.

£20 submission fee must be made within 24 hours of application submission via cash, cheque or phone.

All cheques should be made payable to ‘Steve Ross Foundation for the Arts’.

Any submissions without payment after 24hrs will not be considered.

For any works for sale, Quay Arts will add 40% commission +VAT.

Wholesale amounts will act as the insurance value of your work.

Work will be insured on Quay Arts premises only.

Please include an SAE for the return of your CDs, etc if sending via post

Quay Arts cannot accept responsibility for CDs, etc lost in the post

Works must be available for the duration of the exhibition.

The selection panel’s decision is final and the display of works is at the discretion of the curatorial team.

Quay Arts reserves the right to use images submitted to publicise the exhibition.

Where appropriate, all selected work must be properly framed and glazed to a high standard with fixings attached when delivered to Quay Arts

Quay Arts reserves the right not to exhibit a selected piece if it does not meet the presentation standards.

If your work is selected, please ensure your packagingisclearly labelledwith the following information:Artist Name, Title of Work, Medium, Dimensions.
