EQUESTRIAN LIFE QUALIFIER RULES

THE EQUESTRIAN LIFE 2009 WORKING HUNTER AND SHOWING CHAMPIONSHIPS is to be held at Arena UK on 12th September 2010, including an evening performance. The judging of the Concours d’Elegance class, the Supreme WH Championship, the Supreme Showing Championship and Supreme In-Hand Championship will take place during the evening performance.

WHO CAN COMPETE?

The Equestrian Life 2010 Working Hunter and Showing championships are aimed at the keen amateur, not professional. Classes are open to amateur/owner/rider/handler home produced exhibits only, which are either stabled at home or in a DIY yard, and which, since 1st January 2010, have not been shown by a professional during the current season, or stabled in a professional yard at any time in 2010. Exhibit to be ridden/led by an amateur only. This does not exclude amateur/owner riders/handlers from having lessons at any time with an instructor, providing the horse/pony remains at home.

An amateur is someone who does not make any financial gain out of horses for a living, including the following:

·  Does not get paid to ride or compete horses/ponies for clients.

·  Does not buy and sell horses/ponies for financial gain.

·  Does not professionally produce, school or break in horses/ponies for any financial gain.

·  Owners of livery yards may compete, BUT only on their own horse/pony, of which proof

may be asked for.

Horses, Ponies and Riders who have qualified for, or competed at HOYS (except Search for a Star), THE ROYAL INTERNATIONAL HORSE SHOW, (including Non-Qualifying classes), OR OLYMPIA in the years 2009 or 2010 ARE NOT ELIGIBLE TO COMPETE. If you purchase a horse/pony during the current season who has competed at the above shows with another rider, you cannot compete at the EL Qualifiers and Championships with that horse/pony.

-  an exhibitor may not knowingly exhibit a horses/pony bred, sold, leased or produced by the Judge, his/her immediate family or his/her employer.

-  An exhibitor may not show under a Judge for whom he/she has produced a horse/pony in the same year.

GENERAL RULES

Competitors should make sure that they have their valid qualification card with them to show to the SECRETARY when entering. Also when competing the JUDGE ONLY can sign the card in the RING. Qualification cards MUST NOT be signed outside the ring. NO CARD, NO QUALIFICATION.

Competitors may purchase one Registration Card only, which allows them to compete two horses/ponies in a maximum of five classes. You may only enter the classes at the Championships in which you have qualified.

For detailed class rules please check the rules issued with your registration card, or refer to the rules on the Equestrian Life Magazine website.

Who will qualify?

In all Equestrian Life qualifier classes the highest placed three exhibitors, not already qualified, and with a 2010 Equestrian Life Qualification Card, will qualify. No substitutions or nominations of horses/ponies, and no change of rider are allowed under any circumstances at the Championships.

HOW DO I get MY QUALIFICATION CARD?

Cards cost £12.00, and can be obtained from Equestrian Life magazine website or write to:

Equestrian Life Magazine Ltd, The Loose Box, Shelton Lodge, Shelton, Newark, Notts NG23 5JJ .

ROYAL LONDON SHOW

3RD – 5TH SEPTEMBER 2010

EAST OF ENGLAND SHOWGROUND, PETERBOROUGH, PE2 6XE

The Royal London Show is a Championship Show for all types of horses and ponies. Anyone is eligible to compete, provided that they have qualified for entry by being placed in a qualifying class and registered with the International Showing Society. Qualifying classes are held at nearly 200 qualifying shows all over the country throughout the season.

First, second and third placed horses/ponies in the classes marked (RL) in the schedule will qualify for the Champion of Britain Title classes, to be held at the Royal London Show in 2010. Each qualified horse/pony will receive a qualification card in the ring, which will enable the owner to enter the Royal London Show, provided the owner and rider/handler are, or become, registered with the International Showing Society within 28 days of the qualifying show. No horse registration is required. For up to date information telephone the ISS secretary on 01425 471680/07971931971, or see www.royallondonshow.co.uk.

Once a particular horse/pony has been qualified, you may then enter any other appropriate Championship class without additional qualification.
