Qatar Summer Festival begins this week with shopping promotions

Special QSF events across the country for Eid Al Fitr

As Qatar Summer Festival (QSF) organisers gear up for the nation-wide festival, participating retailers are ready to kick off their special QSF promotions a few days earlier this year.

Starting Thursday 22nd June, and through to the end of QSF, retailers at participating malls will be offering 50% discounts and special promotions. Participating malls include Al Khor Mall, Doha Festival City,The Mall, Gulf Mall, Mall of Qatar, Lagoona Mall and Landmark Mall.

And, for every QAR 200 spent at any of the participating outlets in these malls, shoppers can enter the mega raffle draw to be held on the final day of QSF (5th September) and have a chance to win one of 10 exciting cash prizes or a super luxury car.

Mashal Shahbik, Director of Festivals and Events at QTA, said, “Qatar Summer Festival offers Qatar’s visitors the ultimate summer package, from special travel and hospitality offers to exciting and varied retail and entertainment options for all members of the family to enjoy.”She added, “The summer festivities, which this year extend from Eid Al Fitr to Eid Al Adha,form a key part of our efforts to energise the tourism sector through diversifying Qatar’s events calendar and tourist source markets. We are particularly pleased that this edition’s activities are fully delivered by members of the private sector."

The first day of Eid Al Fitr will bring with it plenty more excitement in the form offamily entertainment to suit all ages.

Entertainment City

The QSF centerpiece and family favourite opens its doors to the public on the first day of Eid Al Fitr. Spread out over the expansive ground floor of the Doha Exhibition & Convention Center, the City’s key features include the world’s largest inflatable obstacle course, Timba Cars, Bricklyn Lego, skill games, virtual reality and arcade games, a paintball shooting range and live entertainment shows. The City will also have a food court and pop-up shops. Itwill be open daily from 2:00pm to 11:00pm. An individual entry ticket costs QAR 15. Individual game pricesrange from 5 QAR to 50QAR.

Travel and Hospitality

All throughout QSF, 77 of Qatar’s hotels and hotel apartments are offering a free night’s stay when two nights (at hotels) or five nights (at hotel apartments) are booked. Hotel establishments are providing a range of other offers including free breakfasts and pool access. In addition, 20 hotels are providing spa offers, such as 50% discounts on gym memberships during July and August, and a 50% discount on breakfast buffets. In addition, Qatar Airways transit passengers can also take advantage of +Qatar, a unique stopover package designed to give visitors the opportunity to discover Doha with free luxury hotel stays and complimentary transit visas.

Special QSF events for Eid Al Fitr

Mall Entertainment & Shows

QSF’s participating malls will also be putting on special free entertainment shows for shoppers and families looking for some indoor funfrom the first to the fifth day of Eid Al Fitr, including:

ICE AGE, the must-see show of the season will be heldonDoha Festival City’s main stage this year.The 30 minute-long show will be held three times daily at 3:00pm, 5:00pm and again at 8:30pm.Visitors around the mall will be treated to ongoing roaming shows such as Ardha and guitar performances, and Ambush Man the magician.

At Al Khor Mall,families can enjoy non-stop entertainment in the form of Bollywood and Hip Hop dance shows, magic shows by Mysterious Ash and acro-balance shows between 5:50 pm and 10:30 pm. A henna artist will also be there on June 23rd and 24th.

And, starting 6:00 pm every evening, visitors and residents can follow a roaming circus,mime with human statues and have a whirl with Tanoura dancersat Gulf Mall.

Those heading to Mall of Qatarwill find mall-wide entertainment in the form ofkids’ activities, handicraft workshops and cultural events. In the evenings the Oasis Stage will come to life with live stage shows.

Beauty & the Beast lovers, are in for a treat at Lagoona Mall. The all-time classic will be performed on stage at 5:00 pm, 7:00 pm and again at 9:00 daily throughout Eid.

At The Mall, families will find entertainment with the roaming mascots and parades around the mall between 6:30pm and 9:30pm.

For those longing for European street performances, Landmark Mall will feature Italian musical parades and amusing human statues from London every day between 5:30 pm and 9:00pm. These shows will only run from 26th to 29thJune.

Stand Up Comedy

Visitors and residents in need of a laugh can count on the Marlon WayansStand Up Comedy Show. The American superstar comedianwill perform on Tuesday, June 27that the Qatar National Convention Centre. The evening will be hosted by Khalifa Saleh Al Haroon and features an opening act by Saad Khan from Stand-Up Comedy Qatar.

Outdoor activities

Families can also head to Aqua Park, Aspire Park, Souq Waqif, Al Wakra Heritage Village or Lusail Shooting Club for a variety of outdoor activities throughout Eid.
