Corporate Engagement
Artistic Milliners

Introduction

WWF-Pakistan’s engagement focuses on building and sustaining strategic business partnerships with some of the world's largest local and global companies. The programme serves a twofold objective of awareness raising and CSR. WWF-Pakistan through its Corporate Engagement has been involved with more than 300 corporate companies in both dialogue and active support to help the environment of our country.

One such corporate to participate with us was Artistic Milliners on Wednesday, 17th June 2015, to celebrate ‘World Environment Day.’

Artisitic Milleners is a textile set-up with the aim of providing high-end customers with premium quality denim fabrics and garments.

Celebrating World Environment Day

Around 100 employees joined us at our Wetland Centre at Sandspit and actively participated in our corporate engagement programme.

The activities that took place were:

1.  Beach cleaning competition

100 employees were split into 6 groups and were given ten minutes to collect as much trash as possible. This symbolic activity is one of the regular features of our corporate exposure visits in order to sensitize our audience and make them more conscientiousness about littering.

2.  Presentation

Beach cleaning was then followed by a presentation by one of our environmental experts on the topic of 3Rs (Recycle, Reuse, Reduce) and Pakistan’s mangrove forest.

3.  Mangrove plantation

Right after being briefed on mangroves and their importance in our lives as residents of a coastal city all 100 employees were then led outside to the forest area so each one could plant a tree to leave a positive impact on the environment.

4.  Team Building activity

The activity entitled ‘The Hoola Hoop’ activity was the last one of the day. It emphasizes on the importance of team building and how each member of the team is just as responsible and accountable as the next even if in a given scenario it does not seem likely.

After spending half the day with WWF-Pakistan’s team, engaged in different activities and learning about the importance of our mangrove forest, Artistic Milliners departed around 2:30pm in the afternoon.
